Spectral analysis of four meteors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Four meteor spectra are analyzed for chemical composition and radiative processes. The chemical compositions of the Taurid, Geminid, and Perseid meteors were found to be similar to that of a typical stony meteorite.

Columnanidus calitzdorpensis ichnogen. ichnosp. nov: A new Middle Pleistocene subterranean termite trace fossil from South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Termites are landscape geo‐engineers whose nesting activities substantially modify the physical and chemical properties of soils. Fossilised termite nests commonly constitute the only identifiable evidence of ancient termite activity and represent valuable trace fossil archives for reconstructing past environments.

A Revised Catalogue of Meteor Outbursts in Korean, Japanese, Chinese Histories [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2005
We made a revised catalogue for reliable records of meteor outbursts that were recorded in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese chronicles. In order to avoid the effects of both Earth's precession and perihelion shift, we introduced a new time-coordinate of ...

Decoupling glacier retreat and surface stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (Slovenia), insights from in situ cosmogenic 36Cl exposure and depth‐profile ages

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaciokarst landscapes pose distinctive challenges for cosmogenic dating because meltwater and runoff can be rapidly rerouted into ponors and conduit networks, weakening glacier–river coupling and promoting local sediment storage. We reconstruct glacier retreat and postglacial stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (SW Slovenia) using in situ ...

Apparatus for photographing meteors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Apparatus for photographing meteors in a selected area of the sky is described. A photomultiplier is pointed in the direction of the area. When a meteor passes through the area the signal output of the photomultiplier increases.

Utilizing Citizen Contribution to Track Cosmic Material Entry into Earth's Atmosphere: Insights from Mexico

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional
In this paper, the importance of information posted on social networks in the study of meteoroid entry into the Earth’s atmosphere is shown. This kind of networks work thanks to the information shared by many people, which is stored on different servers.
