Autotrophic acetyl coenzyme A biosynthesis in Methanococcus maripaludis [PDF]
To detect autotrophic CO2 assimilation in cell extracts of Methanococcus maripaludis, lactate dehydrogenase and NADH were added to convert pyruvate formed from autotrophically synthesized acetyl coenzyme A to lactate. The lactate produced was determined spectrophotometrically.

Biological Conversion of Formate to Organic Compounds: Toward a Sustainable Formate Bioeconomy
Formate bioconversion plays a crucial role in achieving renewable resource utilization and sustainable development. To tap its full potential, it is important to identify the most appropriate microbial hosts for incorporating formate into building blocks, design the most promising metabolic pathways for transmitting formate into central carbon ...

Helical Tubes of FtsZ from Methanococcus jannaschii
AbstractBacterial cell division depends on the formation of a cytokinetic ring structure, the Z-ring. The bacterial tubulin homologue FtsZ is required for Z-ring formation. FtsZ assembles into various polymeric formsin vitro, indicating a structural role in the septum of bacteria. We have used recombinant FtsZ1 protein fromM.

The structure of 5 S ribosomal RNA in the methanogenic archaebacteria Methanolobus tindarius and Methanococcus thermolithotrophicus [PDF]
The nucleotide sequences of 5 S rRNA from archaebacteria Methanolobus tindarius and Methanococcus thermolithotrophicus were determined. They can be fitted into a secondary structure model that shows features specific for archaebacterial 5 S RNAs, as ...

In Vivo Biosynthesis and Direct Incorporation of Noncanonical Amino Acids into Proteins
This review evaluates engineered (semi)autonomous cell systems for the biosynthesis and incorporation of noncanonical amino acids (ncAAs) into proteins. While semi‐autonomous cells convert supplied precursors into ncAAs autonomous cells integrate biosynthetic pathways that produce these building blocks intracellularly.

Current understanding of electroautotrophy and its relevance in astrobiology‐related research
Abstract Electroautotrophy—the use of extracellular electrons as the primary energy source for autotrophic metabolism—remains understudied compared to photoautotrophy and chemoautotrophy. Its occurrence in deep‐earth and deep‐sea environments suggests profound implications for astrobiology, yet electroautotrophic microorganisms remain poorly explored ...

Main Points AQP4ex and OAP‐forming AQP4M23 are expressed in non‐neuronal cells of the olfactory epithelium. AQP4ex‐KO and OAP‐null mice show reduced cell density, including OSNs, and impaired odor responses and behavior, with AQP4ex emerging as key regulator.

Composition and Characterization of tRNA from Methanococcus vannielii [PDF]
Purified bulk tRNA from Methanococcus vanielii (carbon source, formate) showed variation in the modified nucleoside pattern reported for Escherichia coli as analyzed by both ion-exchange and thin-layer chromatography. Ribothymidine and 7-methylguanosine were absent; 1-methyladenosine, 1-methylguanosine, N2-methylguanosine, N2,N2-dimethylguanosine ...
