Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

On Asymptotics for Critical Solutions of Systems of Differential Equations with Oscillatory Decreasing Coefficients

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2011
In this paper we propose a method for constructing the asymptotics for a set of linear independent solutions of systems of differential equations with oscillatory decreasing coefficients.

An improved averaging combination method for image and object recognition

open access: yes, 2015
A key development in the design of visual object recognition systems is the combination of multiple features. In recent years, various popular optimization based feature combination methods have been proposed in the literatures.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Modeling and analysis of macroeconomic system dynamics in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2012
The general theory of cyclic processes is examined in an economy. The simulation model of solutions of differential equations describing the cyclic vibrations of business activity and the trend curve of GDP growth is built in MATLAB/Simulink environment.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Model Averaging for Accelerated Failure Time Models with Missing Censoring Indicators

open access: yesMathematics
Model averaging has become a crucial statistical methodology, especially in situations where numerous models vie to elucidate a phenomenon. Over the past two decades, there has been substantial advancement in the theory of model averaging. However, a gap

Averaged Reynolds Equation for Flows between Rough Surfaces in Sliding Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The flow between rough surfaces in sliding motion with contacts between these surfaces, is analyzed through the volume averaging method. Assuming a Reynolds (lubrication) approximation at the roughness scale, an average flow model is obtained combining ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Macroeconomic forecasting using model averaging

open access: yes, 2009
PhDRecently, there has been a broadening concern on forecasting techniques that are applied on large data sets, since economists in business and management want to deal with the great magnitude of information. In this analysis, the issue of forecasting
