Electrochemical Chlorine Shuttle from PVC Waste to Vinyl Ether Acceptors for the Synthesis of Biodegradable Polyester Precursors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A sustainable, paired electrolysis method is presented to recycle PVC, one of the world's most used polymer materials. Our innovative and robust process transfers chlorine from waste PVC and produces valuable precursors for biodegradable polyester materials.

Solvent‐Free Phase Separation of Polystyrene‐block‐poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) Forming Freestanding Photonic Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work presents a scalable, eco‐friendly approach to forming microstructured block copolymer (BCP) films within 15 min through hot pressing. This process enables phase separation even for high‐molecular‐weight BCPs, which are often trapped in spherical structures using time‐consuming solvent processes.

Enhanced Anti‐Adhesion Performance of Hydrophilic Silica‐Doped Laser‐Induced Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
SiO2‐doped laser‐induced graphene (LIG) surfaces, made by lasing polyethersulfone‐diatomaceous earth membrane composites, are tested for organic fouling and biofouling. The pristine LIG surfaces are extremely fouling resistant, but SiO2‐LIG composite surfaces are more hydrophilic and show lower organic dye adsorption and Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm ...

Straightforward Preparation of Polyurethane‐Based Biomaterials with Dual Antibacterial and Anti‐Adhesive Properties for Long‐Lasting Catheter Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents the elaboration of antibacterial, antiadhesive, and antibiofilm polyurethane by a straightforward process based on the co‐extrusion of 2 wt.% of both antibacterial and antiadhesive copolymer. The material proves to be active even after pre‐exposition to biological media and prevents E. coli biofilm formation without toxicity.
