Methyl 2-methyl-3,5-dinitrobenzoate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2010
In the title compound, C(9)H(8)N(2)O(6), the methyl ester group is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.002 Å) and is oriented at a dihedral angle of 24.27 (16) ° with respect to the benzene ring. The nitro groups make dihedral angles of 4.2 (5) ° and 60.21 (11) ° with the benzene ring.

Synthesis of (.+-.)-methyl epijasmonate and (.+-.)-methyl cucurbate. [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1987
A novel synthesis of ( ± )-methyl epijasomonate (2) and the first synthesis of ( ± )-methyl cucurbate (4) were achieved starting from 2-allylcyclohexane-1,3-dione (8). The synthetic epimer 2 had a stronger jasmin flavor than the trans-isomer 1 with 95% purity.

Methyl 4-methylbenzoate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
The structure of the title compound, C(9)H(10)O(2), is related to that of 4-methyl-phenyl 4-methyl-benzoate and ethyl-ene di-4-methyl-benzoate showing similar bond parameters. The mol-ecule is planar, the dihedral angle between the aromatic ring and the -COOMe group being 0.95 (6)°. The cystal structure exhibits inter-molecular C-H⋯O contacts that link

Maternal nutritional status, C1 metabolism and offspring DNA methylation: a review of current evidence in human subjects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
: Evidence is growing for the long-term effects of environmental factors during early-life on later disease susceptibility. It is believed that epigenetic mechanisms (changes in gene function not mediated by DNA sequence alteration), particularly DNA ...

In Vivo Control of CpG and Non-CpG DNA Methylation by DNA Methyltransferases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The enzymatic control of the setting and maintenance of symmetric and non-symmetric DNA methylation patterns in a particular genome context is not well understood.

From trans-methylation to cytosine methylation: Evolution of the methylation hypothesis of schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2009
The role of methylation in the history of psychiatry has traversed a storied path. The original trans-methylation hypothesis was proposed at a time when chlorpromazine had been synthesized but not yet marketed as an antipsychotic (Thorazine).

VEZF1 elements mediate protection from DNA methylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
There is growing consensus that genome organization and long-range gene regulation involves partitioning of the genome into domains of distinct epigenetic chromatin states.

The Dnmt3L ADD Domain Controls Cytosine Methylation Establishment during Spermatogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A critical aspect of mammalian gametogenesis is the reprogramming of genomic DNA methylation. The catalytically inactive adaptor Dnmt3L is essential to ensuring this occurs correctly, but the mechanism by which it functions is unclear.

Epigenetic regulation during fetal femur development: DNA methylation matters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Epigenetic modifications are heritable changes in gene expression without changes in DNA sequence. DNA methylation has been implicated in the control of several cellular processes including differentiation, gene regulation, development, genomic ...
