High-dose intravenous pulse methylprednisolone hemisuccinate in acute behçet retinitis

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
To report the response of acute Behçet retinitis to high-dose corticosteroids.Case report. A 58-year-old man with Behçet disease and severe bilateral glaucoma experienced a sudden decrease of visual acuity to counting fingers in his (better-seeing) left eye. Examination disclosed hypopyon uveitis and an infiltrative retinitis threatening the fovea.

Kinetic study of USP blue tetrazolium assay with methylprednisolone, hydrocortisone, and their hemisuccinate esters by high-pressure liquid chromatography

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1980
The reactions of blue tetrazolium (I) with methylprednisolone and hydrocortisone and their hemisuccinate esters at ambient temperature under USP assay conditions in alcohol USP and in absolute alcohol were followed by high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and spectrophotometry.

Dexamethasone-induced methylprednisolone hemisuccinate hydrolase: Its identification as a member of the rat carboxylesterase 2 family and its unique existence in plasma

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2005
Carboxylesterases (CESs) play important roles in the metabolism of many ester-drugs. In the present study, we identified and characterized dexamethasone-induced methylprednisolone hemisuccinate (MPHS) hydrolase in rat liver microsomes. Intraperitoneal injection of dexamethasone resulted in a significant increase in the level of MPHS hydrolase activity ...

Comparative Pharmacokinetics of Methylprednisolone Phosphate and Hemisuccinate in High Doses

Pharmaceutical Research, 1988
The pharmacokinetics of methylprednisolone and two methylprednisolone esters, the phosphate and the hemisuccinate, were investigated after intravenous administration of the esters to 12 healthy male subjects in two different doses (250 and 1000 mg). Methylprednisolone was formed more rapidly from phosphate than from hemisuccinate.

Bladder tissue permeability and transport modelling of intravesical alum, lidocaine hydrochloride, methylprednisolone hemisuccinate and mitomycin C

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2014
The aims of this study were to assess the tissue permeability of the bladder and to characterize the transport of four drugs displaying different physico-chemical properties and commonly used in intravesical delivery, through porcine bladder. The transport of aluminium through porcine bladder was assessed by using a vertical static diffusion cell ...

Monitoring the Crystallization Process of Methylprednisolone Hemisuccinate (MPHS) from Ethanol Solution by Combined ATR-FTIR- FBRM- PVM

Separation Science and Technology, 2013
In-situ Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), focused beam reflectance measurement (FBRM) and particle video microscope (PVM) have been used simultaneously in this work to monitor the concentration, supersaturation, chord length distribution, and crystal habit, respectively, during a cooling crystallization process of ...
