Transition‐Metal‐Free Synthesis of 2‐Substituted Benzo[cd]Indoles via the Reaction of 1‐Halo‐8‐lithionaphthalenes with Nitriles

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 10, February 16, 2024.
A simple and effective organolithium approach to the synthesis of 2‐substituted benzo[cd]indoles from peri‐dihalonaphthalenes and nitriles has been developed. The reaction proceeds via a surprisingly easy intramolecular aromatic nucleophilic substitution facilitated by the “clothespin effect”.

A metisergide no tratamento da epilepsia temporal Methysergide in the treatment of temporal lobe epilepsy

Risks for animal health related to the presence of ergot alkaloids in feed

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract The European Commission requested EFSA to provide an update of the 2012 Scientific Opinion of the Panel on Contaminants in the Food Chain (CONTAM) on the risks for animal health related to the presence of ergot alkaloids (EAs) in feed. EAs are produced by several fungi of the Claviceps and Epichloë genera.

Cluster Headache and Its Cousins: A Family of Pain Management Problems

open access: yesPain Research and Management, 2000
Cluster headache causes great misery because of the severity, frequency and repetitiveness of its attacks, and the fear (justified in a few sufferers) that the attacks will respond to nothing and will never cease.

Eletriptan in the management of acute migraine. An update on the evidence for efficacy, safety, and consistent response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Migraine is a multifactorial, neurological and disabling disorder, also characterized by several autonomic symptoms. Triptans, selective serotonin 5-HT1B/1D agonists, are the first-line treatment option for moderate-to-severe headache attacks.

Cluster headache management and beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The therapeutic management of cluster headache is based on a very stable triad of drugs. Acute treatment has, in subcutaneous sumatriptan, its gold standard if compared to pure oxygen or indomethacin.

Pre-injury administration of morphine prevents development of neuropathic hyperalgesia through activation of descending monoaminergic mechanisms in the spinal cord in mice

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2005
The present study examined whether pre-injury administration of morphine can prevent partial sciatic nerve injury-induced neuropathic pain in mice. We observed that pre-injury administration of subcutaneous (s.c.) and intracerebroventricular (i.c.v ...

Serotonin receptors: Subtypes, functional responses and therapeutic relevance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Recent, rapid progress in the molecular biology of serotonin (5-HT) receptors requires conceptual re-thinking with respect to receptor classification.
