On the Transverse-Traceless Projection in Lattice Simulations of Gravitational Wave Production

open access: yes, 2011
It has recently been pointed out that the usual procedure employed in order to obtain the transverse-traceless (TT) part of metric perturbations in lattice simulations was inconsistent with the fact that those fields live in the lattice and not in the ...

Submaximal metric projective and metric affine structures

open access: yesDifferential Geometry and its Applications, 2014
We prove that the next possible dimension after the maximal $n^2+2n$ for the Lie algebra of local projective symmetries of a metric on a manifold of dimension $n>1$ is $n^2-3n+5$ if the signature is Riemannian or $n=2$, $n^2-3n+6$ if the signature is Lorentzian and $n>2$, and $n^2-3n+8$ elsewise. We also prove that the Lie algebra of local affine

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The Split Feasibility Problem with Some Projection Methods in Banach Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2020
In this paper, we study the split feasibility problem in Banach spaces. At first, we prove that a solution of this problem is a solution of the equivalent equation defined by using a metric projection, a generalized projection, and sunny generalized ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A general composite iterative method for generalized mixed equilibrium problems, variational inequality problems and optimization problems

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2011
In this article, we introduce a new general composite iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of solutions of a generalized mixed equilibrium problem, the set of fixed points of an infinite family of nonexpansive mappings and the set of ...

Characterization of the Best Approximation and Establishment of the Best Proximity Point Theorems in Lorentz Spaces

open access: yesAxioms
Since the monotonicity of the best approximant is crucial to establish partial ordering methods, in this paper, we, respectively, characterize the best approximants in Banach function spaces and Lorentz spaces Γp,w, in which we especially focus on the ...

Examples of homogeneous manifolds with uniformly bounded metric projection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Let M be a finite von Neumann algebra with a faithful normal trace τ. Denote by Lp(M)sh the skew-Hermitian part of the non-commutative Lp space associated with (M, τ). Let 1 < p < ∞, z ∈ Lp(M)sh and S be a real closed subspace of Lp(M)sh.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
