Comparison of the effect of propolis vaginal gel and metronidazole oral tablet on wet smear test results in women suffering from trichomoniasis

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Background and objective: Trichomoniasis is the most common non-viral sexually transmitted infection. One of the methods for diagnosing trichomoniasis is a wet smear test. Propolis has anti-parasitic properties are due to its components, namely tannins, flavonoids, and volatile oils.

Chitosan–Alginate Polyelectrolyte Systems: From Classical Release Models to the D‐PARMO Framework

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 5, May 2026.
Classical empirical models fail to predict the dynamic in vivo behavior of chitosan‐alginate nanocarriers. Bridging this translational gap, the novel D‐PARMO framework replaces purely descriptive curve‐fitting with a mechanistically informed operational model.

Intravaginal Metronidazole for the Prevention of Post-Cesarean Endometritis

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2009
Background: Postpartum endometritis is an important cause of maternal morbidity after cesarean section. Prophylactic antibiotic therapy reduces the risk by approximately 60%.

Anaerobe‐Driven Inflammation and Epithelial Barrier Disruption in Genital HIV Acquisition

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Volume 95, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Genital microbiome dysbiosis is an important risk factor for the sexual acquisition of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in both the male and female genital tracts. The vaginal, penile and urethral mucosae are distinct microenvironments with characteristic microbiome compositions.

Alternative Approaches and Plant‐Based Remedies for Livestock Health Management Among the Batswana of Southern Africa: A Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Due to limited access to, and the high cost of conventional veterinary services, Batswana communities often rely on ethnoveterinary practices for livestock health management. This review provides an in‐depth analysis on the ethnoveterinary uses, biological properties and safety assessment of plants utilised in livestock husbandry. A systematic

Incorporating Scale Uncertainty into Differential Expression Analyses Using ALDEx2

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Differential abundance or expression analyses are routinely performed on metagenomic, metatranscriptomic, and amplicon sequencing data. In such datasets, analysts usually have no information regarding the true scale (i.e., size) of the microbial community or sample under study, with inter‐sample differences in sequencing depth instead being ...

Microbial‐Immune Interplay in CNS Autoimmune Diseases: Lessons from Animal Models and Clinical Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mechanism of action of the intestinal microbiota on CNS autoimmune diseases. Environmental factors shape gut microbiota composition; dysbiosis alters microbial metabolites and antigenic signals. These modulate innate and adaptive immunity, affect barrier integrity, and influence CNS‐resident cells such as microglia and astrocytes, contributing to ...

Metronidazole Vaginal Gel 0.75% (Zidoval TM) for Suppresion of Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): A Pilot Clinical Trial [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology: Open Access, 2015
Objectives: A pilot efficacy and tolerability trial of suppressive metronidazole vaginal gel in reducing recurrent symptomatic relapses of bacterial vaginosis (BV). Study design: A prospective open labeled study. Women with recurrent BV were assigned to metronidazole gel 3 times monthly for 24 weeks.

Synovial Fluid‐derived Micrococcus Luteus G18 Exacerbates Osteoarthritis Progression by Promoting Chondrocyte Degradation via TLR2/JNK/AP‐1 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, 30 January 2026.
Traditionally considered sterile, the articular cavity is now recognized to harbor microbial communities influencing osteoarthritis (OA). Integrating 16S rRNA sequencing and culturomics, Micrococcus luteus is enriched in advanced OA. Notably, M. luteus G18 exacerbates cartilage degeneration via TLR2/JNK/AP‐1‐mediated ECM disruption, revealing intra ...

Association Between Hysteroscopic Treatment of Cesarean Scar Disorder and Changes in the Endometrial Microbiome and Clinical Outcomes: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Reduction of the isthmocele sac after surgery restores the endometrial microbiome, potentially improving cesarean scar disease related symptoms, including infertility. ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the association between hysteroscopic treatment of cesarean scar disorder (CSDi), clinical improvement, and changes in the endometrial microbiome, as this ...
