Prediction of MHC class II binding affinity using SMM-align, a novel stabilization matrix alignment method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Antigen presenting cells (APCs) sample the extra cellular space and present peptides from here to T helper cells, which can be activated if the peptides are of foreign origin.

Targeting the PGRN‐BMP Lysosomal Axis With NPs@PGRN Reverses Immunometabolic Dysfunction in Chronic Septic Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic septic arthritis involves intracellular bacterial persistence and lipid‐immune crosstalk via the PGRN‐BMP lysosomal axis. A dual‐targeting nanoparticle system (NPs@PGRN) restores lysosomal bactericidal function, reduces bacterial burden, and reprograms macrophage immunity, offering a novel therapeutic strategy. ABSTRACT Chronic septic arthritis,

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

Improved Systemic Immunochemotherapy Employing an Oxaliplatin‐TLR7/8 Agonist Prodrug Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A platinum(IV) prodrug is developed to systemically deliver the TLR7/8 agonist gardiquimod. Tumor‐targeting is mediated by an albumin‐binding maleimide, which limits premature complex activation. Ox‐Gardi‐Mal accumulates specifically in the tumor, where it activates the immune system.

BGN/MDK Axis in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment Strengthens Tumor Malignancy by Modulating Cancer Cells and Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that m6A regulators cooperatively upregulate BGN in melanoma, promoting malignancy. Within the tumor microenvironment, CAFs show highest BGN expression. The BGN/MDK axis mediates cancer‐stroma crosstalk, driving normal fibroblast (NF) activation and enhancing the pro‐tumor effect of CAFs, highlighting a promising therapeutic target ...

Salmonella Typhimurium interferes with the humoral immune response in pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Foodborne salmonellosis is one of the most important bacterial zoonotic diseases worldwide. Salmonella Typhimurium is the serovar most frequently isolated from slaughter pigs in Europe.

In vitro propagation and homing of liver-derived dendritic cell progenitors to lymphoid tissues of allogeneic recipients: Implications for the establishment and maintenance of donor cell chimerism following liver transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Dendritic cell (DC) progenitors were propagated in liquid culture from nonparenchymal cells resident in normal mouse (B10.BR; H-2k, I-E+) liver in response to granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF).

Cuproptosis and Disulfidptosis Converge to Empower PD‐L1 Checkpoint Therapy via Cadict‐Induced PD‐L1 Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces Cadict, an EGFR‐targeted nanodrug that co‐delivers cuproptosis and disulfidptosis inducers to overcome immune resistance. Cadict synergistically enhances tumor cytotoxicity and sensitizes cancers to ICIs by upregulating PD‐L1 via an Eif5b‐dependent translation mechanism, fostering a potent antitumor immune response and ...

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) fragment numbers alone – in Atlantic cod and in general - do not represent functional variability [version 1; referees: 2 approved, 1 approved with reservations]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2018
This correspondence concerns a publication by Malmstrøm et al. in Nature Genetics in October 2016. Malmstrøm et al. made an important contribution to fish phylogeny research by using low-coverage genome sequencing for comparison of 66 teleost (modern ...

Early passenger leukocyte migration and acute immune reactions in the rat recipient spleen during liver engraftment: With particular emphasis on donor major histocompatibility complex class II+ cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
After a short course of tacrolimus, Lewis rat liver allografts induce donor-specific nonreactivity in Brown Norway recipients that is immunosuppression-independent after 28 days.
