Genetic analysis of cerebellar folial pattern in crosses of C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice
Brain Research, 1993Variation in the cerebellar folial pattern of mice is influenced by genetic elements [Inouye, M. and Oda, S., J. Comp. Neurol., 190 (1980) 357-362]. In crosses of C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice, the presence or absence of a specific fissure, the intraculminate fissure, is largely determined by a single genetic locus (Cfp-1), which is located on distal

Genetic control of hepatocarcinogenesis in C57BL/6J and C3H/HeJ inbred mice
Carcinogenesis, 1986Treatment of newborn male C3H/HeJ mice with N,N-diethyl-nitrosamine (DEN) or N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU) resulted in the induction of hepatocellular adenomas and carcinomas with a mean number of tumors per animal that was approximately 20- to 50-fold higher than that for similarly treated C57BL/6J male mice.

The inbred 129 substrains have been characterized as poor learners that display hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. However, they are used extensively as a source of embryonic stem (ES) cells for creating mice carrying altered copies of a targeted gene ('knockout mice'). The present research investigated callosal agenesis and behavior in the 129/SvEvTac

Exploratory behaviors as well as pharmacological actions of gamma-aminobutyric acidA (GABAA)/benzodiazepine receptor agonists and inverse agonists were characterized in C57BL/6J and A/J strains of mice. C57BL/6J mice displayed higher levels of exploratory behavior than A/J mice in the light in equilibrium with dark exploration model of anxiety and in ...

Alveolar Process Anabolic Activity in C3H/HeJ and C57BL/6J Inbred Mice
Journal of Periodontology, 2008Background: The purpose of this study was to characterize bone activity of the alveolar process in C3H/HeJ (C3H) and C57BL/6J (B6) inbred mice. Based on observations in other animal species, we hypothesized that the boneāformation rate/bone surface (BFR/BS) is greater in the alveolar process compared to the body of the mandible and that the bone ...

Characterization of cortical spindles in DBA/2 and C57BL/6 inbred mice
Brain Research Bulletin, 1984Continuous twenty-four hour EEG recordings were conducted on freely-moving DBA/2 and C57BL/6 inbred mice. No brief spindle episodes (BSEs: 6-7 cps, 1-5 sec duration, high amplitude spindle bursts) were seen in the waking EEG of C57BL/6 mice. BSEs were a conspicuous element of the EEG during active waking (AW) and quiet waking (QW) in DBA/2 mice.

We observed major vascular physiological differences between C57BL/6J and C57BL/6N mice, indicating C57BL/6N mice have greater vascular function. However, in comparison to either C57BL/6 substrain, outbred, genetically diverse UM-HET3 mice have a greater vascular function characterized by lower aortic stiffness and greater endothelial-dependent ...

The role of genotype in susceptibility to the behavioral actions of benzodiazepines is not well characterized. To develop a model for such studies, we have characterized the anxiolytic and sedative activities of diazepam in C57BL/6J and A/J inbred mice. C57BL/6J mice were more responsive than A/J mice to diazepam-induced anxiolytic-like activity in the

Large deletion on the Y-chromosome long arm (Yq) of C57BL/6JBomTac inbred mice
Mammalian Genome, 2016The Y-chromosome of mice has a crucial role in sex determination, gender ratio equilibrium as well as male fertility, and is moreover involved in behavioral, immunological, and cardiovascular traits. During routine short tandem repeat genotyping of C57BL/6 substrains, a unique deletion on the Y-chromosome long arm of males from the commercially ...

Quantitative trait loci for bone density in C57BL/6J and CAST/EiJ inbred mice
Mammalian Genome, 1999Genetic analyses for loci regulating bone mineral density have been conducted in a cohort of F(2) mice derived from intercross matings of (C57BL/6J x CAST/EiJ)F(1) parents. Femurs were isolated from 714 4-month-old females when peak adult bone density had been achieved.
