Ultra-sounds in three inbred strains of young mice
Behavioral Biology, 1972Ultrasonic vocalizations of young mice of three inbred strains: C57B1/6/J, BALB/c/J, and C3H/He/J; were recorded at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 days of age. Recordings were made under conditions of separation from the nest and isolation, at room temperature (23.5 ± 1.5°C) which produces a mild degree of hypothermic stress.

Infection of inbred strains of mice with Sendai virus
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1978A comparative study of the consequences of Parainfluenza type 1 (Sendai) virus infection in inbred (C57B1/6J, C57Br, CBA, DBA) strains and a randomly bred (Swiss white) strain of mice showed significant mortality in the inbred strains but not in the randomly bred ones.

Activity rhythms in inbred mice. I. Genetic analysis with recombinant inbred strains
Behavior Genetics, 1991Rhythm of activity of inbred mice was recorded automatically by a set of actographs. This rhythm was characterized by six indices in the temporal and frequency domains. Two methods of genetic analysis were applied to these indices using parental strains BALB/c and C57BL/6, the reciprocal F1's, and the seven recombinant inbred strains (RI).

Development of a highly fecund inbred strain of mice
Mammalian Genome, 2004A highly fecund inbred mouse line has been established from the Quackenbush Swiss (QS) outbred strain by full-sib inbreeding combined with selection for high number of pups born alive (NBA) and low interlitter interval (ILI). After more than 50 generations of inbreeding and selection, this line, named QSi5, has an NBA of 13.4 and an ILI of 29 days ...

How pure are inbred strains of mice?
Immunology Today, 1982As useful as immunologists find the inbred mouse, they cannot help but become disenchanted when they encounter genetically disparate mice in a purportedly inbred strain. Genetic impurity (allogenicity) can arise from a number of sources: incomplete inbreeding, mutation, inadvertent outcrossing, mislabeling, and epislatic and heterozygote selection.

Susceptibility to Cutaneous Anaphylaxis in Inbred Strains of Mice
The Journal of Immunology, 1974Abstract Inbred mouse strains vary widely in their susceptibility to passive cutaneous anaphylaxis. The susceptibility to IgG1-induced reactions does not parallel susceptibility to IgE-induced reactions.

Differential control of ventilation among inbred strains of mice
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1994The role genetic factors play in ventilatory control was examined by challenging eight inbred strains of mice to acute hypercapnia under normoxic and hypoxic conditions. Age-matched mice were exposed for 3-5 min to inspired gases of the following composition (FICO2:FIO2) 0.03:0.10, 2) 0.03:0.21, 3) 0.08:0.10, and 4) 0.08:0.21, with intermittent room ...

Cryptosporidium infections in inbred strains of mice.
The Journal of protozoology, 1992Cryptosporidium, a protozoan parasite of man and animals, is an important etiological agent of diarrhea throughout the world, particularly in children and immunocompromised individuals such as AIDS patients. Unfortunately, because of the lack of both in vivo laboratory models and reliable in vitro parasite culture systems, virtually nothing is known ...

TRANSPLANTATION OF THYMIC TISSUE IN INBRED STRAINS OF MICE
Journal of Endocrinology, 1961SUMMARY Thymic tissue has been transplanted between donor and host mice of different ages. It has been found that thymic tissue more than a few days old loses weight rapidly when transplanted to a host, and that beyond this age loss of weight is independent of the age of either donor or host.
