Comparative Pathogenicity of a Wild-Type Strain and Respiratory Mutants of Candida albicans in Mice
Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, 1990The pathogenicity of a parent wild-type strain and three respiratory mutants of Candida albicans was examined in intravenously infected mice. The wild-type strain K grew well in the kidney and caused severe candidosis, and the 21-day LD50 value was 7.2 x 10(6) cells/mouse.

Congenital Anomalies, 1995
AbstractThe behavioral abnormalities of homozygotes (bus/bus) of mutant bustling mice, BUS/ldr, were characterized in comparison with those of heterozygotes (+/bus) and of chemically labyrinthectomized mice. Homozygotes were 4‐fold more active than heterozygotes, as evaluated in an open field (11 × 17 cm) for 24 hr by means of Animex.

[Background and evoked activity of visual cortex neurons of a mutant strain of mice].
Neirofiziologiia = Neurophysiology, 1977Background and evoked activities of visual neurons were studied in mice with hereditary microphthalmia ("ocular retardation", "or/or"). Phenotypical action of the "or" gene manifested itself in underdevelopment of the optical nerve followed by full blindness of the animal. Control experiments were carried out on C57Br mice.

The nature of the primary genetic defects in ob/ob and db/db mice are unknown. Both the obese (ob) and diabetes (db) mutations produce similar, multicomponent obese-hyperinsulinemic syndromes when maintained in the same strain of mouse. In an attempt to find differences between these mutations in neuroendocrine function affecting the islets of ...

Abstract The activity of mouse liver l -tyrosine-2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase can be induced to high levels in 4 to 6 hr by the administration of the synthetic difluoro glucocorticoid, flumethasone (6α, 9α-difluoro-11β, 17α 21-trihydioxy-16α-methyl-pregna-1, 4-diene-3, 20-dione).

Granule cell heterotopia in normal and nervous mutant mice of the BALB/c strain
Brain Research, 1973Abstract Aberrant granule cells are present in the cerebellar molecular layer of ‘nervous’ (nr/nr) mutant mice of the Balb/cGr strain. These heterotopic cells produce dendrites which form glomerulus-like synaptic complexes in the molecular layer with both mossy and climbing fibers. Similar heterotopic cells are also present in normal mice of the Balb/

Mel-mutants ofWangiella dermatitidisin mice: evaluation of multiple mouse and fungal strains
Medical Mycology, 1989Melanin-deficient mutants of Wangiella dermatitidis were studied by comparing a spontaneous mutant (Mel 3) with the parental wild type (wt) in four strains of mice and by comparing various UV-induced mutants in a single strain of mouse. Mice were inoculated intravenously with 3 x 10(6), 1 x 10(7), 3 x 10(7) or 1 x 10(8) yeast-like cells and mortality ...

The mouse is now firmly established as the model organism of choice for scientists studying mammalian biology and human disease. Consequently, large collections of novel genetically altered mouse lines have been deposited in secure archives around the world.

Studies on the genetic mechanisms in control of mouse liver tyrosine aminotransferase expression were of three general types: (1) studies on strain variance in endogenous enzyme activity and of various factors affecting the basal enzyme level, (2) purification of the enzyme and studies of its properties, and (3) studies of strain variance in enzyme ...

AbstractBACKGROUNDA complicated malformation of the fundus accompanied by typical ocular coloboma was detected in albino fatty liver Shionogi (FLS) mice. We elucidated a new type of 3‐dimensional anomalous structure inside the eye in this mouse strain.METHODSThe fundi of FLS mice aged 1, 3, 5, and 20 weeks were observed intensively, both ...
