1989Obese (ob/ob) and diabetes (db/db) mutant mice are phenotypically identical both being severely obese, adults weighing from 45–60 g compared with 25–30 g for normal littermates. Most of the excess body weight represents large stores of white adipose tissue located in the axial and inguinal regions.
