Food web modifications shifted the functional structure of zooplankton

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract The North Sea has been undergoing long‐term transformations driven by shifts in human activities and climate change, which have jointly reshaped the composition of marine communities. Despite existing studies, the functional mechanisms driving community changes remain poorly understood.

Hydrological variability and connectivity shape floodplain microbial community dynamics

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Floodplains are dynamic interfaces between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, where ecosystem functioning is strongly influenced by microbial communities. To investigate the composition of free‐living and particle‐associated prokaryotic and microbial eukaryotic communities, five interconnected study sites were sampled in one of the best ...

Harmfulness Score: A Data‐Driven Framework for Ranking Environmental Risks of Microplastics

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Using machine learning and bibliometric sentiment analysis on over 100 000 abstracts, this study introduces the Harmfulness Score to rank environmental risks of microplastic polymers. Polystyrene and polyethylene emerge as top‐risk materials, supporting targeted regulation and evidence‐based policy recommendations.

Biomass‐Derived Hetero Atom‐Doped Porous Carbon for Enhanced CO2 Adsorption

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
This review discusses the synthesis and characterization of the heteroatom (N, S, P, O, B)‐doped porous carbon materials which are specifically designed for the CO2 capture and CO2 conversion to value‐added products. ABSTRACT The emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) and its impact on global warming have shown exponential growth in recent decades.

Salinization influences the biodiversity‐ecosystem functioning relationship more strongly at high salinity

open access: yesmLife, EarlyView.
Abstract Salinization threatens ecosystem stability by altering microbial diversity and function, yet how salinity influences biodiversity‐ecosystem functioning (BEF) relationships remains unclear. In this study, we constructed artificial microbial communities (5–40 strains) with varying salt tolerance and phylogeny, culturing them across a salinity ...

Cultivation of microalgae–bacteria consortium by waste gas–waste water to achieve CO2 fixation, wastewater purification and bioproducts production

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels and Bioproducts
The cultivation of microalgae and microalgae–bacteria consortia provide a potential efficient strategy to fix CO2 from waste gas, treat wastewater and produce value-added products subsequently.
