The promise and perils of microarray analysis

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2006
Microarray analysis has provided a novel means of identifying clues into the mechanisms of disease development. As a methodology, microarray analysis holds the promise for genome-wide screening in which 2 tissues (diseased and normal) are compared, and molecular pathways that defined the phenotype of the disease could be precisely defined ...

Analysis of microRNA Microarrays in Cardiogenesis

2015
microRNAs are a subclass of noncoding RNAs which have been demonstrated to play pivotal roles in multiple cellular mechanisms. microRNAs are small RNA molecules of 22-24 nt in length capable of modulating protein translation and/or RNA stability by base-priming with complementary sequences of the mRNAs, normally at the 3'untranslated region.

Quantitative microarray pesticide analysis

Journal of Immunological Methods, 2004
To replace a pesticide immunoassay based on microtiter plates, we have developed a quantitative, competitive microarray immunoassay, which permits rapid and highly sensitive quantification of the dichlobenil degradation product 2,6-dichlorobenzamide (BAM), and the prominently used herbicide atrazine.

Borrelia burgdorferi Microarray Analysis

2017
Microarray studies have contributed significantly to the current understanding of Borrelia burgdorferi genome content and transcriptional regulation. Here, we describe the use of microarray technology for several aspects of B. burgdorferi genomic analysis.

Lectin Microarrays for Glycoprotein Analysis

2007
Glycosylation is one of the most common posttranslational modifications, with more than half of all known proteins thought to be glycoproteins. Alterations in glycosylation play a role in a diverse set of biological phenomena including tumor cell metastasis, intracellular communication, and inflammation. The complexity of glycosylation at the molecular

Microarray Analysis of Ovarian Cancer

2005 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2006
Microarray experiments were performed to normal ovaries, benign ovarian tumor and stage I and III of ovarian cancer. By treating benign ovarian tumor as pre-cancerous stage and comparing to later stages of ovarian cancer we identified 46 genes overly expressed in early-staged cancer.

Microarray and Gene-Clustering Analysis

2005
Human mast cells are capable of secreting a plethora of inflammatory mediators and cytokines that may play a pivotal role in innate immune and inflammatory responses. Activation of mast cells by antigen and immunoglobulin E (IgE) results in signaling, gene expression, and expression of inflammatory mediators.

Cluster Analysis of Microarray Data

2019
The cluster analysis has been widely applied by researchers from several scientific fields over the last decades. Advances in knowledge of biological phenomena have revived a great interest in cluster analysis due in part to the large amount of microarray data.

Computational analysis of microarray data

Nature Reviews Genetics, 2001
Microarray experiments are providing unprecedented quantities of genome-wide data on gene-expression patterns. Although this technique has been enthusiastically developed and applied in many biological contexts, the management and analysis of the millions of data points that result from these experiments has received less attention.

Analysis of variance of microarray data.

Methods in enzymology, 2006
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is an approach used to identify differentially expressed genes in complex experimental designs. It is based on testing for the significance of the magnitude of effect of two or more treatments taking into account the variance within and between treatment classes.
