Purification and physico-chemical properties of Bacillus atrophaeus protease with elastolytic and fibrinogenolytic activity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal
Microbial proteases, among which proteases capable of cleaving elastin, fibrin, fibrinogen, and collagen, have been a matter of interest to researchers due to their significant biotechnological potential along with low production cost.

Single‐Cell Dissection of Therapy‐Induced Remodeling Uncovers a Fibroblast‐Driven Immunosuppressive Niche and Targetable Vulnerabilities in Lethal Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell longitudinal profiling reveals that androgen‐deprivation therapy induces a DPT+ fibroblast‐complement axis that suppresses macrophage inflammation and drives CD8+ T cell exhaustion in prostate cancer. Concurrently, resistant epithelial subpopulations persist and engage TSPAN1‐ and NRXN1‐mediated programs promoting CRPC and neuroendocrine ...

Etiological findings in endodontic-periodontal infections

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2004
The endodontium and periodontium are closely related and disease of one may lead to secondary disease in the other. The differential diagnosis of endodontic and periodontal disease is of vital importance, so that the appropriate treatment can be done ...

Effects of a skin neuropeptide (substance p) on cutaneous microflora. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: Skin is the largest human neuroendocrine organ and hosts the second most numerous microbial population but the interaction of skin neuropeptides with the microflora has never been investigated.

Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Inosine Mitigates Polystyrene Nanoplastics‐Induced Hepatic Injury by Inhibiting the Polarization of M1 Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Probiotic B.p colonization elevated gut‐derived inosine level in the liver, while elevated inosine activated A2AR and subsequently blocked NPs‐induced polarization of M1 macrophages by repressing the miR155/SOCS1/NF‐κB pathway. This reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and thereby, mitigated NPs‐induced hepatic injury.

Role of Triphala in dentistry

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2014
Ayurveda is considered as the "science of life," because the ancient Indian system of health care focused views of man and his illness. India has an age-old heritage of traditional herbal medicine.

Intestinal tissues induce an SNP mutation in Pseudomonas aeruginosa that enhances its virulence: possible role in anastomotic leak. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The most feared complication following intestinal resection is anastomotic leakage. In high risk areas (esophagus/rectum) where neoadjuvant chemoradiation is used, the incidence of anastomotic leaks remains unacceptably high (≈ 10%) even when performed ...

Engineered Exosomal miR‐146a‐5p Reprograms BMSC Fate and Restores Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteonecrosis of Femoral Head

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exosomal miR‐146a‐5p is identified as a pivotal regulator in steroid‐induced osteonecrosis. Its reduction activates NF‐κB signaling, compromises mitophagy, and disrupts mitochondrial bioenergetics, resulting in autophagic disequilibrium. Engineered exosomes delivering miR‐146a‐5p reinstate mitochondrial function, augment oxidative phosphorylation and ...

Antioxidant and Anticollagenase Activities of Fermented Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) Peel Juice

open access: yesCosmetics
Skin aging is driven by intrinsic factors, such as the accumulation of reactive oxygen species, and extrinsic factors, including ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which accelerate oxidative stress and extracellular matrix degradation.

Toward Nano‐Nutritional Medicine: A Remotely Activated Trans‐Vaccenic Acid‐Based Lipid Nanoparticles for Enhancing Immune Checkpoint Blockade Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eutectic mixtures from trans‐vaccenic acid (TVA) and stearic acid, which served as phase‐change material to encapsulate IR780, forming NIR‐responsive nanoparticles. IR780@TVA LNPs induce photothermal therapy and initiate adaptive anti‐tumor immunity.
