Microencapsulation

open access: yesFood Science and Technology, 2006
The various features and applications of microencapsulation in the food industry are discussed. Microcapsulation basically involves the preparation of coating or entrapment of an food ingredient inside another material to produce a matrix for controlling mass transfer in a specific manner using spray-drying and extrusion technology.

Microencapsulation of bioactive compounds from peanut residues: stability study and application in yogurt

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Peanut skin, a byproduct of peanut processing, is a rich source of phenolic compounds (520.65 mgGAE (100 g)−1 d.b.) with strong antioxidant capacity, but which remains underutilized. The direct incorporation of phenolic extracts into dairy products is challenging, due to their instability during processing and storage and possible ...

SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, restores pyrethroid efficacy against cabbage stem flea beetle but negatively impacts its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, inhibited key metabolic pathways associated with pyrethroid insecticide resistance in cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB) and its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae. SYN‐A restored pyrethroid efficacy against resistant CSFB allowing up to 80% reduction in application rates.
