Microfabricated incandescent lamps
Applied Optics, 1991A silicon filament vacuum sealed incandescent light source has been fabricated using IC technology. The incandescent source consists of a heavily doped p(+) polysilicon filament coated with silicon nitride and enclosed in a vacuum sealed ( approximately 80-mT) cavity in the silicon chip surface.

Wired Microfabricated Electrochemical Systems
Analytical Chemistry, 2021Metal wires have been used as an alternative to liquid junctions for the connection of solutions in microfabricated electrochemical devices. They exhibit similar performance to liquid junctions, provided that the interfacial potentials at both ends of the wires were appropriately canceled. Cyclic voltammograms of devices with liquid junctions and metal

Microfabricated drug delivery devices
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2005We review newest developments in the design and fabrication of drug delivery devices based on micropatterned structures. Electronic devices have now reached a stage of dimensions comparable to those of biological macromolecules. This raises exciting possibilities for combining microelectronics and biotechnology to develop new technologies with ...

Microfabricated fractal branching networks
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2004AbstractIn this article, we demonstrate how a combination of engineering and biological techniques could lead to the realization of branched microstructures that can be used for the repair of damaged vascularized tissue. Recursive “treelike” networks were first generated by using fractal algorithms based on Murray's equation for vascular branching as ...

Microfabricating Conjugated Polymer Actuators
Science, 2000Conjugated polymer actuators can be operated in aqueous media, which makes them attractive for laboratories-on-a-chip and applications under physiological conditions. One of the most stable conjugated polymers under these conditions is polypyrrole, which can be patterned by means of standard photolithography.
