Perspectives for pharmaceutical screening at XFEL sources using the example of Lassa virus endonuclease

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 1181-1194, October 2026.
To facilitate structure‐based drug development, XFEL sources are of paramount interest. Here, we analyse the feasibility and data quality of serial femtosecond X‐ray crystallography compound screening at Linac Coherent Light Source and compare it with PETRA III synchrotron experiments.

Influence of the filler distribution on PDMS-graphene based nanocomposites selected properties

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Insufficient homogeneity is one of the pressing problems in nanocomposites’ production as it largely impairs the properties of materials with relatively high filler concentration.

Production of sub-micron emulsions by ultrasound and microfluidization techniques

open access: yes, 2007
The purpose of this study was to produce an oil-in-water nano-emulsion by microfluidization and ultrasonication for spray drying encapsulation. Maltodextrin combined with a surface-active biopolymer (Hi-Cap) at a ratio of 3:1 were used as the continuous ...

The R203W substitution drives PACS‐1 syndrome by disrupting intramolecular regulation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 19, Page 5717-5734, October 2026.
The middle region (MR) of PACS‐1 controls engagement with specific partner proteins. This manuscript presents the structure of the Furin binding region (FBR) and how interactions with partners are regulated through the interplay between a basic patch in the FBR and an acidic cluster in the MR.

The effect of composition, microfluidization and process parameters on formation of oleogels for ice cream applications

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The use of oleogels is an innovative and economical option for the technological development of some food products, among them ice creams. The aim of this study was to establish the best processing conditions to obtain an emulsion which form oleogels ...

The effect of high pressure microfluidization on the structure and length distribution of whey protein fibrils

open access: yes, 2011
The effect of high pressure microfluidization on native ß-lactoglobulin (ß-lg) or whey protein isolate (WPI), both before and after heat-induced protein fibril formation at pH 2.0, was investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM), shear birefringence,

Effect of Microfluidization on Functional Properties and Digestibility of Flaxseed Protein Isolates

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
Dynamic high‐pressure microfluidization effectively reduces protein particle size while increasing solubility and surface hydrophobicity. These structural modifications significantly enhance the techno‐functional properties–especially the stability of emulsions and gel properties–without compromising its in vitro digestibility.

Microwave‐Assisted Subcritical Water Extraction Method for the Optimized Isolation of Cellulose From Residual Soybean Hulls

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 17, 14 September 2026.
Almost pure cellulose was extracted from soybean hulls by microwave‐assisted alkaline treatment (MW‐NaOH) and characterized. The microwave‐assisted subcritical water extraction (MASWE) of waste biomass falls within the circular economy approach, promotes sustainability, and reduces both treatment times and the use of harsh chemicals.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...
