High-Dimensional Quantum Key Distribution by a Spin-Orbit Microlaser
Quantum key distribution offers a promising avenue for establishing secure communication networks. However, its performance is significantly hampered by the conventional two-level information carriers (i.e., qubits) due to their limited information ...

Condensation of thresholds in multimode microlasers
We show from ab initio laser theory that by choosing an appropriate spatial pump profile, many different spatial modes of a typical microlaser can be turned on at the same pump energy, substantially increasing the number, N, of simultaneous lasing modes.

Flying Particle Microlaser and Temperature Sensor in Hollow-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber
Whispering-gallery mode (WGM) resonators combine small optical mode volumes with narrow resonance linewidths, making them exciting platforms for a variety of applications. Here we report a flying WGM microlaser, realized by optically trapping a dye-doped

Photon‐Sphere Modes in Curved Optical Microcavities: A Black‐Hole Analogue Laser
An optical analogue of a Schwarzschild black hole is realized using curved microcavities that preserve light‐like geodesics. A new family of laser modes confined around the photon sphere is identified alongside conventional whispering‐gallery modes. Analytical theory, numerical simulations, and experiments reveal curvature‐induced confinement, enabling

Reconfigurable symmetry-broken laser in a symmetric microcavity
The directional lasing emission in whispering gallery microcavities typically resorts to breaking the structure symmetry. Here the authors demonstrate a reconfigurable symmetry-broken microlaser in a symmetric ultrahigh-Q whispering gallery microcavity ...

Intracavity dynamics-based gain-assisted sensing with microtubule Raman microlaser
Microcavity lasers show excellent performance as a miniaturized microsensor in various applications. However, their relatively weak power may be easily submerged in system noises and disturbed by environmental fluctuations, rendering them ineffective at ...

Electrically pumped 1550 nm single mode III-V-on-silicon laser with resonant grating cavity mirrors [PDF]
This article presents a novel III-V on silicon laser. This work exploits the phenomenon that a passive silicon cavity, side-coupled to a III-V waveguide, will provide high and narrow-band reflectivity into the III-V waveguide: the resonant mirror.

Fluorene‐based blue emitters: On the path to electrically pumped organic lasers
Electrically pumped efficient operation remains unrealized, a major challenge in optoelectronics. Fluorene‐based blue‐emitting semiconductors are promising gain media, thanks to their structural tunability and favorable emission properties. This review summarizes recent advances, highlights their reliability and versatility in lasing, and outlines key ...
