Beyond antigens and adjuvants: formulating future vaccines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The need to optimize vaccine potency while minimizing toxicity in healthy recipients has motivated studies of the formulation of vaccines to control how, when, and where antigens and adjuvants encounter immune cells and other cells/tissues following ...

Computational and Experimental Analysis of Drug‐Coated Microneedle Skin Insertion: The Mode of Administration Matters

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the mode of application affects drug delivery from coated microneedles. Combining finite element modeling with custom 3D‐printed Franz Diffusion Cells, the researchers found that prolonged application pressure from microneedles in situ reduces drug permeation.

Influenza nucleoprotein DNA vaccination by a skin targeted, dry coated, densely packed microprojection array (Nanopatch) induces potent antibody and CD8+ T cell responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
DNA vaccines have many advantages such as thermostability and the ease and rapidity of manufacture; for example, in an influenza pandemic situation where rapid production of vaccine is essential.

Implantable Microarray Patch: Engineering at the Nano and Macro Scale for Sustained Therapeutic Release via Synthetic Biodegradable Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This review focuses on the application of synthetic biodegradable microarray patches (MAPs) in sustained drug delivery. Compared to conventional MAPs which release drugs into the skin in an immediate manner, these implantable MAPs release drugs into skin microcirculation gradually as the biodegradable polymers degrade, thus offering sustained release ...

Highly Efficient n‐Type Doped Single‐Crystalline Perylene Diimide Microwires via Solution Processing for High‐Performance Photosensors and Photo‐Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed high‐performance n‐type doped single‐crystalline organic semiconductor microwires (MWs) are reported. n‐Type dopants are located at the terrace edge of the MW, resulting in rapid doping and high interaction. n‐doped MWs show 5,000 times enhanced photosensitivity than evaporated films and high photo‐neuromorphic characteristics by ...
