A machine learning assisted method for rapidly annotating benthic megafauna in large volumes of marine imagery

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent technological advancements have rapidly expanded our capacity for collecting image data in the marine environment, but processing images into meaningful ecological metrics remains a manual, time‐consuming, and biased process. This is particularly challenging with electro‐optical cabled imaging systems which generate images at a rate ...

Nonlocal active sound control for composite regions

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
In the active sound control problem, additional sound sources, known as control sources, are implemented at the perimeter of a protected domain. The control sources can generate secondary sound inside the shielded domain, which attenuates incoming noise. This leads to an inverse source problem.

Instrumental Evaluation of Sensor Self-Noise in Binaural Rendering of Spherical Microphone Array Signals

open access: yes, 2020
Spherical microphone arrays are used to capture spatial sound fields, which can then be rendered via headphones. Insight into perceptual properties of sensor self-noise is valuable in the design and construction process of such arrays.

Arc‐ZTE: Continuously‐Slewed Zero‐TE Imaging With Incoherent Temporal Sampling for Near‐Silent Dynamic MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To enable flexible dynamic and DCE MRI with low acoustic noise and high spatiotemporal resolution using zero echo time (ZTE) imaging. Methods This work proposes Arc‐ZTE, a technique in which the readout gradients of ZTE are continuously‐slewed to form arcs in k‐space that are sequentially rotated to yield an incoherent trajectory ...

Fault Detection of Electric Motors via Symmetrized Dot Pattern‐Based Features

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study proposes a novel symmetrized dot pattern (SDP) approach using designed SDP‐based features, extracted from transformed vibration signals, for fault detection. These features describe the compactness, inclination, and shape of the “snowflake” diagram distributions.

Microphone array beamforming approach to blind speech separation

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we present a microphone array beamforming approach to blind speech separation. Unlike previous beamforming approaches, our system does not require a-priori knowledge of the microphone placement and speaker location, making the system ...

Room Impulse Response Dataset of a Recording Studio with Variable Wall Paneling Measured Using a 32-Channel Spherical Microphone Array and a B-Format Microphone Array

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper introduces RSoANU, a dataset of real multichannel room impulse responses (RIRs) obtained in a recording studio. Compared to the current publicly available datasets, RSoANU distinguishes itself by featuring RIRs captured using both a 32-channel
