Neuronal Excitation Induces Tau Protein Dephosphorylation via Protein Phosphatase 1 Activation to Promote Its Binding with Stable Microtubules

open access: yesNeurology International
The tau protein is a microtubule-associated protein that promotes microtubule stabilization. The phosphorylation of the tau protein has been linked to its dissociation from microtubules.

Cadmium induces endosomal/lysosomal enlargement and blocks autophagy flux in rat hepatocytes by damaging microtubules

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Acute exposure to cadmium (Cd) causes vacuolar degeneration in buffalo rat liver 3 A (BRL 3 A) cells. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between Cd-induced microtubule damage and intracellular vacuolar degeneration.

Cryptic Splicing of GAP43 mRNA is a Novel Hallmark of TDP‐43‐Associated ALS and AD

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TDP‐43 dysfunction disrupts RNA processing, inducing cryptic exon 4a1 inclusion in GAP43 and reducing its protein levels. This aberrant splicing impairs axonal regeneration and contributes to neurodegeneration in ALS and AD. RNA‐seq of patient brains reveals GAP43 downregulation and 4a1 upregulation, identifying cryptic exon 4a1 as a potential ...

Microtubule Organization and Microtubule-Associated Proteins (MAPs)

open access: yes, 2016
Dendrites have a unique microtubule organization. In vertebrates, dendriticmicrotubules are organized in antiparallel bundles, oriented with their plusends either pointing away or toward the soma. The mixed microtubule arrayscontrol intracellular trafficking and local signaling pathways, and are essential fordendrite development and function.

IncRNA‐ZFAS1, an Emerging Gate‐Keeper in DNA Damage‐Dependent Transcriptional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LncZFAS1 plays a crucial role during DNA damage response in mammalian cells. Loss of lncZFAS1 results in deficient DNA lesion removal and reduced cell viability. Mechanistically, lncZFAS1 modulates RNAPII phosphorylation and transcription and thereby promotes both GG‐NER and TC‐NER upon UV damage.

Regulation of microtubule nucleation in mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells by ARF GTPase-activating protein GIT2

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Aggregation of high-affinity IgE receptors (FcϵRIs) on granulated mast cells triggers signaling pathways leading to a calcium response and release of inflammatory mediators from secretory granules.

A Supramolecular Material for Controlling Kiwifruit Bacterial Canker

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The matrine‐5‐methylsalicylic acid salt (MOS) is reported for its excellent antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa), with advanced cell membrane penetration ability and strong affinities for potential targets. Furthermore, a nanosupramolecular delivery system MOS@hydroxypropyl‐beta‐cyclodextrin (HPCD) with improved ...

Model of ionic currents through microtubule nanopores and the lumen

open access: yes, 2009
It has been suggested that microtubules and other cytoskeletal filaments may act as electrical transmission lines. An electrical circuit model of the microtubule is constructed incorporating features of its cylindrical structure with nanopores in its ...
