HURP facilitates spindle assembly by stabilizing microtubules and working synergistically with TPX2

open access: yesNature Communications
In vertebrate spindles, most microtubules are formed via branching microtubule nucleation, whereby microtubules nucleate along the side of pre-existing microtubules.

Acetylated alpha-tubulin in Trypanosoma cruzi: immunocytochemical localization

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1993
We have used monoclonal antibodies specific for acetylated and non-acetylated alpha-tubulin to localize microtubules containing acetylated alpha-tubulin in all developmental forms of the life cycle of Trypanosoma cruzi.

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

α‐Synuclein Pathology Spreads in a Midbrain–Hindbrain Assembloid Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel midbrain–hindbrain assembloid model demonstrates the spread of α‐synuclein pathology, a hallmark of Parkinson's disease, mimicking Braak's hypothesis. This model reveals how pathology propagates from the hindbrain to the midbrain, inducing synaptic changes and early signs of neuronal vulnerability. It offers an innovative platform for exploring

Efficient imaging and computer vision detection of two cell shapes in young cotton fibers

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 10, Issue 6, November-December 2022., 2022
Abstract Premise The shape of young cotton (Gossypium) fibers varies within and between commercial cotton species, as revealed by previous detailed analyses of one cultivar of G. hirsutum and one of G. barbadense. Both narrow and wide fibers exist in G. hirsutum cv.

Fission yeast mtr1p regulates interphase microtubule cortical dwell-time

open access: yesBiology Open, 2014
The microtubule cytoskeleton plays important roles in cell polarity, motility and division. Microtubules inherently undergo dynamic instability, stochastically switching between phases of growth and shrinkage.

Modified heptapeptide from tau binds both tubulin and microtubules

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2020
Background Microtubules are the major cytoskeletal component in eukaryotes which are essential for a large spectrum of cellular activities. Monitoring the behavior of microtubules is helpful for a better understanding of the regulatory mechanism ...

Histone Deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) in Ciliopathies: Emerging Insights and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HDAC6 regulates primary cilia, crucial for cellular signalling and environmental responses. Dysregulation of HDAC6 contributes to ciliopathies, affecting multiple organs. This review examines HDAC6's role in ciliogenesis, its interaction with signaling molecules, and its potential as a therapeutic target.

Unwrapping the Ciliary Coat: High‐Resolution Structure and Function of the Ciliary Glycocalyx

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ciliary membrane is decorated in glycosylated proteins that define the interaction of the cilium with its environment. The main component of the ciliary coat of the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, FMG1, is characterized by cryo‐electron microscopy, proteomics, and live cell microscopy with flow‐based adhesion assays.
