A simple automated method for continuous fieldwise measurement of microvascular hemodynamics

open access: yes, 2018
Microvascular perfusion dynamics are vital to physiological function and are frequently dysregulated in injury and disease. Typically studies measure microvascular flow in a few selected vascular segments over limited time, failing to capture spatial and

Application of a novel method for subsequent evaluation of sinusoids and postsinusoidal venules after ischemia-reperfusion injury of rat liver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Although several intravital fluorescence microscopic studies demonstrated that microcirculatory derangement is induced during liver ischemia-reperfusion, these data were obtained from randomly selected microvascular areas and microvessels, Repeated ...

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...

Intraluminal application of vascular endothelial growth factor enhances healing of microvascular anastomosis in a rat model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background: Early reconstitution after injury to the endothelium is an important feature for reducing a number of vessel wall pathologies. We investigated the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) and its impact on the vascular remodeling ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Effects of hemodialysis on blood volume, macro- and microvascular function

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND Vascular dysfunction is considered to spur the progression of cardiovascular disease in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Whether the HD procedure itself contributes to vascular dysfunction remains incompletely investigated.

Cerebral blood flow modeling in primate cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report new results on blood flow modeling over large volumes of cortical gray matter of primate brain. We propose a network method for computing the blood flow, which handles realistic boundary conditions, complex vessel shapes, and complex nonlinear ...

Atomic Layer Deposition Processes: Versatile Platforms for Engineering ZnO‐Chitosan Biointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Vapour phase metalation (VPM), multiplied pulsed vapour phase infiltration (MPI), and O2 plasma‑enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) tailor Zn–chitosan (Zn‑CS) films. PEALD improves wettability and biocompatibility. MPI enhances semiconductor behavior. Antiseptic selectivity: VPM → E. coli; MPI → H. pylori.

Epidemiology of coronary microvascular obstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is nowadays the preferred reperfusion strategy for treating ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients, aiming at restoring epicardial infarct-related artery patency and achieving microvascular ...
