Comparison of the microvessel density of gastric regions in normal and sleeve gastrectomized rats

open access: yes, 2018
Aim: Background: The aim of this study is to compare the microvessel densities of different normal gastric regions and to determine the effects of sleeve gastrectomy on the microvessel density of tissues alongside the remnant stomach.

Human brain matters: Navigating the neuropathology of COVID‐19

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Severe COVID‐19 is associated with vascular dysregulation and chronic neuroinflammation, leading to axonal injury and neurodegeneration. In long COVID or PASC, persistent alterations in neuroimaging and biofluid biomarkers reflect ongoing neuronal damage and neuroinflammation, contributing to long‐term neurological symptoms including fatigue, cognitive

Dysregulated TIE‐2 expression is associated with blood‐brain barrier leakiness and Alzheimer's disease‐related neuropathology

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Ince et al., have analysed TIE‐1 and ‐2 expression in human brain tissue, including microvessel‐enriched fractions (MVF) and covering a spectrum of AD‐associated pathology, and in CSF from independent cohorts spanning a clinical spectrum from normal cognition to AD.

STAT3 decoy treatment of tumor xenografts decreases microvessel density and increases endothelial cell apoptosis.

open access: yes, 2014
HNSCC xenografts were produced in nude mice using the cell line UM-22B. The mice were then treated with direct intratumoral injection with vehicle, STAT3 decoy, or mutant control oligonucleotide for 3 weeks.

Wasteosomes accumulate in periventricular white matter hyperintensities and exhibit complex relationships with mixed pathology, sclerotic index, and perivascular space

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
In a mixed diagnostic cohort of pathologically diagnosed Alzheimer's disease, cerebrovascular disease, mixed pathology, and control tissue, we connected the histopathological wasteosome profile in periventricular (PV) brain sections to 7T FLAIR‐MRI confirmed PV white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), vascular stenosis and perivascular space size ...

Distinctly altered TRPC3 and TRPC6 expression patterns in human Alzheimer's disease cortex and hippocampus

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Divergent remodeling of TRPC channels occurs in Alzheimer's disease, with TRPC3 increased in neurons and reactive astrocytes and TRPC6 reduced in pyramidal neurons. These alterations may contribute to calcium dysregulation, neuroinflammation, and synaptic dysfunction during AD progression.
