Application of Microwave Plasma Pre-treatment in Enhancement of the Desizing Efficiency of WSP-Sized Woven PET

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
This paper aims to replace the traditional alkali desizing of PET fabrics with the combination of microwave plasma treatment and water desizing. To this end, the microwave plasma pre-treatment was applied to enahnce the desizing efficiency of PET fabrics

Theoretical models of free-free microwave emission from solar magnetic loops [PDF]

open access: yes
The free-free microwave emission is calculated from a series of model magnetic loops. The loops are surrounded by a cooler external plasma, as required by recent simultaneous X ray and microwave observations, and a narrow transition zone separating the ...

Probing Cellular Activity Via Charge‐Sensitive Quantum Nanoprobes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new quantum sensing modality detects shifts in zero‐field splitting caused by charge rearrangement with diamond nanocrystals in response to cellular activity. These electric‐field‐driven effects provide an alternative to temperature‐based interpretations, enabling real‐time, single‐cell readout of inflammation.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

In situ electromagnetic field diagnostics with an electron plasma in a Penning–Malmberg trap

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We demonstrate a novel detection method for the cyclotron resonance frequency of an electron plasma in a Penning–Malmberg trap. With this technique, the electron plasma is used as an in situ diagnostic tool for the measurement of the static magnetic ...

VUV irradiance measurement of a 2.45 GHz microwave-driven hydrogen discharge

open access: yes, 2015
Absolute values of VUV-emission of a 2.45 GHz microwave-driven hydrogen discharge are reported. The measurements were performed with a robust and straightforward method based on a photodiode and optical filters.

Ultralow‐Frequency Epsilon‐Near‐Zero States in 3D‐Printed High‐Entropy Alloy Metacomposites for Ultra‐Thin Perfect RF Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rozanov causality limit—a compulsive proportional thickness‐wavelength relationship (nd ∝ λ)—makes it challenging to develop perfect absorption with both thin thickness and low frequency. Herein, a cocktail effect in high‐entropy alloys (HEA) is crucially utilized for lowering plasma frequency to achieve epsilon‐near‐zero states, which finally enables ...

Microwave radiation measurements near the electron plasma frequency of the NASA Lewis bumpy torus plasma [PDF]

open access: yes
Microwave emission near the electron plasma frequency was observed, and its relation to the average electron density and the dc toroidal magnetic field was examined.

Magnetized birefringence and CMB polarization

open access: yes, 2004
The polarization plane of the cosmic microwave background radiation can be rotated either in a magnetized plasma or in the presence of a quintessential background with pseudoscalar coupling to electromagnetism.
