A BaGa4Se7 crystal based pulsed mid-infrared light source with a narrow linewidth in 4–12 µm

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2023
We present a BaGa4Se7 (BGSe) crystal based coherent pulsed light source for high resolution mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy in the 4–12 µm region. The all-solid-state system consists of an injection seeded optical parametric generator (OPG) and an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) using two KTiOPO4 crystals.

NDIR gas sensing using high performance AlInSb mid-infrared LEDs as light source

Infrared Sensors, Devices, and Applications VII, 2017
In this paper, we report the performance of room temperature operated mid-infrared light emitting diode (LED) with an InSb buffer layer and AlInSb active/barrier layers, which showed to be suitable for non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) gas sensing. Characterization of the LED was performed and we found that good carrier confinement and crystalline quality

Quantum cascade lasers: new resonant tunnelling light sources for the mid-infrared

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1996
Recent results on quantum cascade lasers are reviewed. In these quantum devices based on resonant tunnelling the wavelength can be selected over a broad range of the infrared spectrum using the same heterostructure material by tailoring the active layer thickness.

Mid-Infrared Four-Wave Mixing in Silicon Waveguides Using Telecom-Compatible Light Sources

Frontiers in Optics 2009/Laser Science XXV/Fall 2009 OSA Optics & Photonics Technical Digest, 2009
We report four-wave mixing in silicon waveguides in the spectral region beyond 2 ?m using infrared signals derived from telecom-compatible fiber-optic sources. We measure a high value of the nonlinear parameter gamma = 103 /(Wm).

Multi-Wavelength Spectroscopic Application Using Rapid and Random Wavelength-Tuned Mid-Infrared Light Source

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2010
We report a rapid and random wavelength-tuned mid-infrared (IR) light source with difference-frequency generation, using an electronically tuned dual-wavelength-oscillated Ti:Al2O3 laser. A tuning range from 5.4 to 8.2 µm is achieved. The wavelength stability of the mid-IR radiation is measured to be less than ±1.1 ×10-3 µm, and we realize rapid and ...

Dual-channel operation in a synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator for the generation of broadband mid-infrared coherent light sources

Optics Letters, 2018
We report, to the best of our knowledge, a novel approach for generating broadband mid-infrared (mid-IR) light by implementing a dual-channel scheme in a synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator (SPOPO). Two-channel operation was achieved by inserting a prism pair and two reflection mirrors inside an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) cavity.

Broadly tunable mode-hop-free mid-infrared light source with MgO:PPLN continuous-wave optical parametric oscillator

Optics Letters, 2012
We report a continuous-wave, broadly tunable mid-infrared MgO:PPLN optical parametric oscillator pumped by a fiber amplifier. Using pump tuning with synchronized temperature optimization, we achieve the broadest mode-hop-free (MHF) tuning of idler light over 30 cm(-1).

Watt-level, fluoride fiber-based supercontinuum light sources with efficient power distribution in the mid-infrared

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
High-power mid-infrared (mid-IR) fiber-based supercontinuum (SC) sources are considered a key enabling technology for numerous applications in such important areas as microscopy, spectroscopy, medicine, and military. Most of the applications require robust, high power, sources emitting radiation in the 2-4 μm spectral band.
