Assessment of Long-Term Middle Ear Ventilation
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1983Pathologic changes of the middle ear cavity are almost invariably caused by eustachian tube malfunctions which are either permanent, fluctuating or recurrent. The process may deteriorate from middle ear effusion to atelectasis of the middle ear, adhesive otitis, and can potentially end in cholesteatoma.

Middle pancreatectomy: Safety and long-term results
Surgery, 2010Pancreaticoduodenectomy and distal pancreatectomy for lesions of the neck or body of the pancreas sacrifice a large amount of normal pancreatic tissue. Long‐Term Middle Ear Ventilation
The Laryngoscope, 1977Successful long‐term middle ear ventilation was established in 12 patients with chronic eustachian tube hypofunction that had failed to respond to repeated myringotomy and tympanotomy tube insertions by conventional techniques. The 12 patients (13 ears) had insertion of an untrimmed large flange “Per‐Lee” type tube through a posterior‐inferior ...

The Term 'Architect' in the Middle Ages
Speculum, 1942CuRIous indeed are the vicissitudes through which the terms 'architectus' and 'architector' have passed during the Middle Ages. To follow their meandering course from the days of Vitruvius to those of Leo Battista Alberti will prove of a wider significance than might be expected from a problem of mere terminology.

Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Middle Ear with Long-Term Survival
New England Journal of Medicine, 1971EMBRYONAL rhabdomyosarcoma of the middle ear has been described as a uniformly fatal disease. Rapid progression, with early death, has characterized each of the 15 previously reported cases.1 This paper describes a long-term survival (42 months) in a patient treated by radiotherapy after incomplete surgical removal of the tumor.

To succeed in the long-term, focus on the middle-term.
Harvard business review, 2007When a mature company fails to endure over the long term, it's often due to the "Horizon 2 vacuum," argues Moore, author of Crossing the Chasm and several other books on innovation strategy, and managing director of the consulting firm TCG Advisors. The reference is to the strategic horizons outlined by McKinsey's Mehrdad Baghai and colleagues in The ...

“Middle Africa” and Other Regional Terms
African Studies Bulletin, 1960Some Africanists work on Africa as a continent, but there are probably more who prefer to focus attention on the area to the south of the desert. The terms “Africa South of the Sahara,” and the shorter but less popular “Sub-Saharan Africa” have been invented to meet this need. There are so many differences in historical development, climates, economic ...
