The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

From rally to reality: unveiling long-term dynamics in political trust over two years of COVID-19 in Germany

open access: yesPolitical Research Exchange
Crises like wars, terrorist attacks, and economic or health crises are frequently followed by profound changes in political trust. Whereas immediate external threats often induce a strong initial increase in political trust, the ‘rally-around-the-flag ...

Return migration in central Asia: key factors and potential of development of voluntary return and reintegration programs in the region

open access: yesНаука. Культура. Общество, 2020
Absorbing almost all global trends, migration processes in the Central Asia (CA) region have their own characteristics and specifics. The most visible flows are labor migration, forced migration, frontier migration and transit migration and repatriation.

To Migrate or Not to Migrate: An Analysis of Operator Migration in Distributed Stream Processing

open access: yesIEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials
One of the most important issues in data stream processing systems is to use operator migration to handle highly variable workloads in a cost-efficient manner and adapt to the needs at any given time on demand. Operator migration is a complex process that involves changes in the state and stream management of a running query, typically without any loss

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

A survey of process migration mechanisms

open access: yesACM SIGOPS Operating Systems Review, 1988
We define process migration as the transfer of a sufficient amount of a process's state from one machine to another for the process to execute on the target machine. This paper surveys proposed and implemented mechanisms for process migration. We pay particular attention to the designer's goals, such as performance, load-balancing, and reliability.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
