The R-Process Alliance: Chemodynamically Tagged Groups. II. An Extended Sample of Halo r-process-enhanced Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Orbital characteristics based on Gaia Early Data Release 3 astrometric parameters are analyzed for ∼1700 r -process-enhanced (RPE; [Eu/Fe] > +0.3) metal-poor stars ([Fe/H] ≤ −0.8) compiled from the R -Process Alliance, the GALactic Archaeology with ...

ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF THE ABUNDANCE GRADIENT ALONG THE MILKY WAY DISK

open access: yes, 2009
Based on a simple model of the chemical evolution of the Milky Way disk, we investigate the disk oxygen abundance gradient and its time evolution. Two star formation rates (SFRs) are considered, one is the classical Kennicutt-Schmidt law (Psi = 0.25 ...

Are the Milky Way and Andromeda unusual? A comparison with Milky Way and Andromeda analogues

open access: yes, 2020
Our Milky Way provides a unique test case for galaxy evolution models because of our privileged position within the Milky Way's disc. This position also complicates comparisons between the Milky Way and external galaxies, due to our inability to observe ...

TRILEGAL, a TRIdimensional modeL of thE GALaxy: Status and FutureRed Giants as Probes of the Structure and Evolution of the Milky Way

open access: yes, 2012
We briefly describe TRILEGAL, a TRIdimensional modeL of thE GALaxy, and its more recent developments. Particularly relevant is the recent inclusion of a kinematical module to the code, and the present efforts to provide a more solid calibration of Milky ...

Stellar Bars in Isolated Gas-rich Spiral Galaxies Do Not Slow Down

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Elongated bar-like features are ubiquitous in galaxies, occurring at the centers of approximately two-thirds of spiral disks in the nearby Universe. Due to gravitational interactions between the bar and the other components of galaxies, it is expected ...

GASTRO Library. II. Exploring Chemical Bimodalities in Disk Galaxies with GSE-like Mergers and Massive Star-forming Clumps

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We use several smoothed particle hydrodynamics+ N -body models as part of the GASTRO library to study the role of high-density star-forming clumpy regions and a single merger on the formation of the α -rich and α -poor populations in the disk galaxies ...

Disentangling Stellar Age Estimates from Galactic Chemodynamical Evolution

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Stellar ages are key for determining the formation history of the Milky Way, but are difficult to measure precisely. Furthermore, methods that use chemical abundances to infer ages may entangle the intrinsic evolution of stars with the chemodynamical ...

A study of radio continuum emission of the Milky Way Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The synchrotron emissivity distribution of the Milky Way Galaxy has been modelled from the 408 MHz allsky survey of Haslam et al.(1982) after separation of its thermal component with the help of IRAS 60 micron emission(Broadbent et al 1989).

The chemo-dynamical evolution of the Milky Way disc

open access: yes, 2016
The kinematic properties of the stellar subpopulations in the Milky Way disc are linked to their radial and vertical scale lengths. On the other hand, element abundances and abundance ratios are a signature of the evolution history of the stellar ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
