Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A new determination method of hydraulic support resistance in deep coal pillar working face

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study addresses hydraulic support resistance determination in deep coal pillar caving faces at Zhaogu No. 2 Mine through integrated theoretical, numerical, and field analyses. Theoretical calculations (empirical estimation: ≥ 15.742 MN; dynamic load

Performance of Microbially Induced Carbonate Precipitation for Reinforcing Cohesive Soil in the Reservoir Area

open access: yesCrystals
Cohesive soil in the reservoir area is vulnerable to natural disasters because of its poor erosion resistance and low strength. Therefore, it needs to be reinforced.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Mineralogical and Thermochemical Characteristics of Dolomite Induced by Two Marine Microorganisms: Further Insights into Biomineralization

open access: yesCrystals
The mechanism of dolomite has been a major hotspot in geological research. However, most of the current studies mainly focus on single microorganisms and fail to fully consider the influence of marine microbial diversity on the precipitation of carbonate

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Field application and diffusion law of grouting slurry in floor aquifer of a coal mine

open access: yesScientific Reports
Floor aquifers are responsible for approximately 55% of water inrush incidents in coal mines. As mining depths increase, the risk posed by confined floor aquifers becomes more severe.

Multi-factors model of pores geometries interplayingly affecting spontaneous imbibition in reservoir rock

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
China is short of natural gas resources, and these low-permeable reservoirs (such as tight gas, shale gas and coalbed methane) being difficultly developed account for a large proportion. How to efficiently developed this part of strategic resources is of

Variability in Mine Waste Mineralogy and Water Environment Risks: a Case Study on the River Almond Catchment, Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The River Almond catchment contains coal, oil shale and ironstone mine waste and displays widespread surface water metals pollution. Mineralogical investigations and geochemical modelling at four mine waste sites identified pyrite oxidation and jarosite,

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
