Biodiversity benefits of coal mine water remediation schemes for bird life
Lagoons and reedbeds are established components of mine water treatment systems for iron-rich coal mine drainage. This study coupled modified British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Breeding Bird Survey monitoring with habitat survey to assess the presence ...

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Mine water management in variable climate regimes
Recent extreme rainfall events in Queensland have tested both strategic and operational water management practices, infrastructure and regulation of mine water discharge.

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

An assessment of the quantum for financial provision of mine closures: a Monte Carlo approach.
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references.Poor mine closure policy threatens both society and the environment. Some of the more prominent threats that have manifested are acid mine drainage, slimes dams and toxic dust from dumps.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Impact of the Casargiu mine drainage on the Mediterranean Sea
In Sardinia (Italy), Pb-Zn vein ores hosted in Palaeozoic silicate-dominant rocks of the Arburese mining district have been exploited in a system of overlapping galleries for a depth of 600 m below ground level.

Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
