Travelling wave analysis of a mathematical model of glioblastoma growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we analyse a previously proposed cell-based model of glioblastoma (brain tumour) growth, which is based on the assumption that the cancer cells switch phenotypes between a proliferative and motile state (Gerlee and Nelander, PLoS Comp. Bio.,

Trace Nickel Activated Biphasic Core‐CuOii/Shell‐CuOi Secondary Microspheres Enable Room Temperature Parts‐Per‐Trillion‐Level NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Traveling Wave Solutions of a Delayed Cooperative System

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
This paper deals with the dynamics of a delayed cooperative system without quasimonotonicity. Using the contracting rectangles, we obtain a sufficient condition on the stability of the unique positive steady state of the functional differential system ...

Existence of traveling wave solutions for a delayed nonlocal dispersal SIR epidemic model with the critical wave speed

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2021
This paper is about the existence of traveling wave solutions for a delayed nonlocal dispersal SIR epidemic model with the critical wave speed. Because of the introduction of nonlocal dispersal and the generality of incidence function, it is difficult to

Spreading Speed, Traveling Waves, and Minimal Domain Size in\ud Impulsive Reaction-diffusion Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
How growth, mortality, and dispersal in a species affect the species’ spread and persistence constitutes a central problem in spatial ecology. We propose impulsive reaction-diffusion equation models for species with distinct reproductive and dispersal ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Existence of Traveling Wave Solutions for Cholera Model

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
To investigate the spreading speed of cholera, Codeço’s cholera model (2001) is developed by a reaction-diffusion model that incorporates both indirect environment-to-human and direct human-to-human transmissions and the pathogen diffusion.

Traveling waves and spreading speed on a lattice model with age structure

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this article, we study a lattice differential model for a single species with distributed age-structure in an infinite patchy environment. Using method of approaches by Diekmann and Thieme, we develop a comparison principle and construct a suitable

Almost sharp nonlinear scattering in one-dimensional Born-Infeld equations arising in nonlinear Electrodynamics

open access: yes, 2017
We study decay of small solutions of the Born-Infeld equation in 1+1 dimensions, a quasilinear scalar field equation modeling nonlinear electromagnetism, as well as branes in String theory and minimal surfaces in Minkowski space-times.
