Dynamics and termination cost of spatially coupled mean-field models

open access: yes, 2013
This work is motivated by recent progress in information theory and signal processing where the so-called `spatially coupled' design of systems leads to considerably better performance.

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Rotation-induced Asymmetry of Far-field Emission from Optical Microcavities

open access: yes, 2014
We study rotation-induced asymmetry of far-field emission from optical microcavities, based on which a new scheme of rotation detection may be developed.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Speed determinacy of traveling waves for a lattice stream-population model with Allee effect

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
This paper investigates the speed selection mechanism for traveling wave fronts of a reaction-diffusion-advection lattice stream-population model with the Allee effect. First, the asymptotic behaviors of the traveling wave solutions are given.

A Note on Quantum Field Theories with a Minimal Length Scale

open access: yes, 2007
The aim of this note is to address the low energy limit of quantum field theories with a minimal length scale. The essential feature of these models is that the minimal length acts as a regulator in the asymptotic high energy limit which is incorporated ...

Minimal wave speed of a nonlocal diffusive epidemic model with temporal delay

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 2014
This paper is concerned with the traveling wave solutions of an epidemic model with nonlocal dispersal and time delay. By a characteristic equation, a threshold is defined. If the wave speed is larger than the threshold, the existence of traveling wave solutions is proved by combining upper-lower solutions with monotone iteration.

Slow and fast minimal speed traveling waves of the FKPP equation with chemotaxis

open access: yesJournal de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées, 2022
We examine a general model for the Fisher-KPP (FKPP) equation with nonlocal advection. The main interpretation of this model is as describing a diffusing and logistically growing population that is also influenced by intraspecific attraction or repulsion.
