Image processing based real-time variable-rate chemical spraying system for disease control in paddy crop

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence in Agriculture, 2020
The agrochemical application with conventional sprayers results in wastage of applied chemicals, which not only increases the economic losses but also pollutes the environment.

m-FISH analysis reveals complexity of chromosome aberrations in individuals occupationally exposed with internal plutonium: A pilot study to assess the relevance of complex aberrations as biomarkers of exposure to high-LET α particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We recently demonstrated that a significant proportion of apparently stable insertions induced after exposure to a mean of 1 α particle/cell, detected using 3-colour FISH, were part of larger unstable complexes when visualised by 24-colour FISH ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

An Aliasing Measure of Factor Effects in Three-Level Regular Designs

open access: yesEntropy
For three-level regular designs, the confounding from the perspectives of both factor and component effects leads to different results. The aliasing properties of factor effects are more significant than the latter in the experimental model.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Comparison of Optimum Balance Values For Different Coefficients of Spherical Aberration of Optical System Including Different Apertures

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2017
The optimum balance values for different coefficient of spherical aberration (third and fifth degree also focal shift) were studied, the optical system includes different apertures (circle, ellipse, square and triangle) using point spread ...
