A Statistical Test for Identifying the Number of Creep Regimes When Using the Wilshire Equations for Creep Property Predictions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A new parametric approach, termed the Wilshire equations, offers the realistic potential of being able to accurately lift materials operating at in-service conditions from accelerated test results lasting no more than 5000 hours.

Implications of the Time Required for Minimum and Tertiary Creep Rates for Ice Mining and Tunnel Closure (Abstract only) [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 1983
For the calculation of rates of closure of tunnels or bore holes in ice, the use of a flow law relation based on secondary or minimum creep rates necessarily underestimates closure rates, particularly for large strains where much higher tertiary creep rates develop.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Characterization of creep deformation and rupture behaviour of P92 steel weldment at 600°C

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2018
P92 steel is a potential candidate for ultra-supercritical (USC) plant component. Thus, its suitability and performance for future service are still under investigation.

An evaluation of the capability of data conversion of impression creep test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
High temperature power plant components are now working far beyond their operative designed life. Establishing their in-service material properties has become a matter of significant concern for power generation companies.

The Important Role Played by High-Temperature Tensile Testing in the Representation of Minimum Creep Rates Using S-Shaped Curve Models [PDF]

open access: yesMetallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2023
AbstractIt is important to characterize the creep life of materials used in power plants and aeroengines. This paper illustrates the important role played by a material’s tensile strength in enabling accurate creep property representations to be made. It also shows that published high-temperature tensile strength values are not always suitable for use ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

The development of creep damage constitutive equations for low Cr-Mo alloy steel and its weldment at low stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ultimate objective of this research project is to develop creep damage constitutive equations for low Cr-Mo alloy and its weldment under low stress (0.2-0.4 yield stress,σ_Y).

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

The mechanical properties of anisotropic polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
The work in this period can conveniently be split into two parts which are reported separately. Part I is concerned with experimental work on the stress-strain properties of anisotropic polythene.
