Minimum Wage Employment Effects and Labour Market Concentration

Review of Economic Studies, 2019
Abstract This paper shows that more highly concentrated labour markets experience more positive employment effects of the minimum wage. In the most concentrated labour markets, employment rises following a minimum wage increase. The paper establishes its main findings by studying the effects of local minimum wage increases on a key low ...

Minimum alveolar concentration of isoflurane in green iguanas and the effect of butorphanol on minimum alveolar concentration

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 2003
Abstract Objective—To determine minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of isoflurane in green iguanas and effects of butorphanol on MAC. Design—Prospective randomized trial. Animals—10 healthy mature iguanas. Procedure—In each iguana, MAC was measured 3 times: twice after induction of anesthesia with isoflurane and

Effect of protein on ramoplanin broth microdilution minimum inhibitory concentrations

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1993
Ramoplanin is a glycolipodepsipeptide antibiotic active against Gram-positive bacteria. We observed that microdilution minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were higher than those obtained in glass tubes or by agar dilution. Initial studies showed that these differences disappeared when 30% bovine serum was added to the broth. Further studies showed

The Minimum Effective Concentration of Opioids

Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2000
Whether patients titrate themselves to an individualized blood or plasma opioid concentration (the so-called minimum effective concentration or [MEC]) has been debated extensively. Nevertheless, there is consistent opinion that during patient controlled analgesia (PCA) patients balance acceptable pain relief against unacceptable side effects.

Effects of high plasma fentanyl concentrations on minimum alveolar concentration of isoflurane in horses

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 2009
Abstract Objective—To verify the isoflurane anesthetic minimum alveolar concentration (MAC)-sparing effect of a previously administered target plasma fentanyl concentration of 16 ng/mL and characterize an anticipated further sparing in isoflurane MAC associated with higher target plasma fentanyl concentrations. Animals—8 horses.

Effect of head trauma on minimum alveolar concentration (MAC)

Seminars in Anesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Pain, 2004
Previous studies examining the effect of closed head trauma (CHT) on the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalational anesthetics reported no change in MAC with moderate CHT and decreased MAC with severe CHT. These results may have been affected by the technique used to estimate MAC.

Minimum Wage Employment Effects and Labor Market Concentration

2019
Why is the employment effect of the minimum wage frequently found to be close to zero? Theory tells us that when wages are below marginal productivity, as with monopsony, employers are able to increase wages without laying off workers, but systematic evidence directly supporting this explanation is lacking.

Isoflurane minimum alveolar concentration sparing effects of fentanyl in the dog

Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2017
To characterize the isoflurane-sparing effects of a high and a low dose of fentanyl in dogs, and its effects on mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR).Prospective, randomized crossover trial.Eight healthy male Beagle dogs weighing 12.1 ± 1.6 kg [mean ± standard deviation (SD)] and approximate age 1 year.Dogs were anesthetized using isoflurane

Effect of intravenous lidocaine on halothane minimum alveolar concentration in ponies

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1998
Summary This study investigated the effect of lidocaine i.v. on halothane minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) in ponies. Six ponies were anaesthetised with thiopentone and succinylcholine, intubated and anaesthesia maintained with halothane. Ventilation was controlled and blood pressure maintained within clinically acceptable limits.
