Enhanced biotransformation of the minor ginsenosides in red ginseng extract by Penicillium decumbens β-glucosidase

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2022
Compound K (C-K) and Rh2, which are present at low levels in ginseng and ginseng extracts, have higher intestinal absorption rates than other ginsenosides. Here, we attempted to convert ginsenoside Rb1 to C-K using a β-glucosidase from Penicillium decumbens.

Preparation of minor ginsenosides C-Mx and C-K from notoginseng leaf ginsenosides by a special ginsenosidase type-I

Process Biochemistry, 2015
Abstract The minor ginsensoides C-Mx, C-K were obtained from notoginseng leaf ginsenosides (mainly containing Rb3, C-Mx1, Rc, and Rb2) using special ginsenosidase type-I from Aspergillus niger g.848 strain. The enzyme molecular weight is about 75 kDa. The enzyme first hydrolyzed the C-20 position 20-O-Glc of ginsenoside Rb1, and then C-3 position 3-O-

Bioconversion of major ginsenosides Rg1 to minor ginsenoside F1 using novel recombinant ginsenoside hydrolyzing glycosidase cloned from Sanguibacter keddieii and enzyme characterization

Journal of Biotechnology, 2012
This study focuses on the cloning, expression, and characterization of recombinant ginsenoside hydrolyzing glycosidase from Sanguibacter keddieii in order to biotransform ginsenosides efficiently. The gene, termed bglSk, consists of 1857 bp and revealed significant homology to that of glycoside hydrolase family 3.

Simplified preparation of the ginsenoside-Rh2 minor saponin from ginseng

Carbohydrate Research, 1997
Abstract Condensation of the 12- O -acetylderivative of 20(S)-protopanaxadiol [dammar-24-ene-3β,12β,20(S)-triol] with tetra- O -acetyl-α- d -glucopyranosyl bromide in the presence of silver oxide in dichloroethane, followed by deprotection with sodium methoxide in methanol, results in formation of the 3- O -β- d -glucopyranosyldammar-24-ene-3β,12β,20(

Pulsed electric field treatment combined with commercial enzymes converts major ginsenoside Rb1 to minor ginsenoside Rd

Innovative Food Science & Emerging Technologies, 2014
Abstract Ginsenoside Rd is an important secondary metabolite in ginseng, and has various pharmacological activities. In this study, pulsed electric field (PEF) treatment combined with commercial enzyme (CPEF) was used to convert major ginsenoside Rb1 to the more active minor ginsenoside Rd.

Production of the Minor Ginsenoside F2 from the PPD-mix-type Major Ginsenosides Using a Novel Recombinant Glycoside Hydrolase from Novosphingobium aromaticivorans

Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering, 2021
The minor ginsenosides such as F2, C-K, Rh2, and Rg3 make up less than 1% of the total ginseng extract; however, many studies have shown that ginsenoside F2 has anti-cancer and antioxidant effects and improves dementia and atopic dermatitis. Therefore, the enhanced production of this minor ginsenoside is a promising approach for the pharmaceutical ...

Microbial conversion of major ginsenoside rb(1) to pharmaceutically active minor ginsenoside rd.

Journal of microbiology (Seoul, Korea), 2005
More than seventy strains of aerobic bacteria showing beta-glucosidase activity were isolated from a ginseng field, using a newly designed Esculin-R2A agar, and identified by their 16S rRNA gene sequences. Of these microorganisms, twelve strains could convert the major ginsenoside, Rb(1), to the pharmaceutically active minor ginsenoside Rd.

Ginsenoside-Ia: A Novel Minor Saponin from the Leaves ofPanax ginseng

Planta Medica, 1996
A new saponin, named ginsenoside-I (a), was isolated from leaves of Panax Ginseng, together with nine known saponins, and its structure was elucidated as 3beta,6alpha,12beta,20(S)-tetrahydroxyldammar-24(25)-ene (20- O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside on the basis of chemical and 2D-NMR methods.

[Research progress on development and utilization of minor ginsenosides].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica
Minor ginsenosides are a class of processed saponins with minor natural content, high bioavailability, and outstanding bio-logical activity, which are usually obtained by biological or chemical transformation of prototype saponins directly extracted from Panax plants.

Biotransformation of ginsenoside Rb1 to Gyp-XVII and minor ginsenoside Rg3 by endophytic bacterium Flavobacterium sp. GE 32 isolated from Panax ginseng

Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2019
The rare ginsenoside Rg3 is attracting more attention because of its good physiological activity and urgent need. There are many pathways to obtain ginsenoside Rg3, including chemical and biological methods. Among these, the conversion of the protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides by microbial hydrolysis is a trend due to its high efficiency and mild ...
