Understanding Pressure‐Induced Photovoltaic Performance of Lead‐Free Ca3BiI3 Perovskite: A DFT and SCAPS‐1D Simulations Study

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
This research explores the structural, electronic, mechanical, and optical characteristics of lead‐free cubic Ca3BiI3 under hydrostatic pressure up to 15 GPa using first‐principles methods. The findings confirm that Ca3BiI3 becomes pressure‐dependent and has potential applications in advanced photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices.

The Expanding Role of Gene Sequencing in Shaping Fetal Therapies: Clinical and Ethical Considerations

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, Volume 46, Issue 5-6, Page 623-635, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In utero interventions are transformative in addressing genetic and anatomic conditions during fetal development. Next generation sequencing enables early genetic testing, playing a pivotal role in prenatal decision‐making by supporting risk stratification, precise and timely diagnosis, which directly informs eligibility for fetal surgical and

Sero‐Epidemiology and Molecular Detection of Bluetongue Virus in Goats in Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
The first large‐scale study in Bangladesh confirmed bluetongue virus infection in goats through combined c‐ELISA and nested RT‐PCR approaches, revealing high seroprevalence and identifying key management‐related risk factors. ABSTRACT Background Bluetongue (BT) is an arthropod‐transmitted, non‐contagious viral disease of domestic ruminants caused by ...

Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Pancreatic β Cell Function: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Targets for Diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 18, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review highlights mitochondrial dysfunction as a central driver of pancreatic β cell failure in diabetes, caused by disrupted mitochondrial quality control (MQC), oxidative stress, and impaired organelle communication. Emerging therapies, such as DRAK2 inhibitors and metabolic reprogramming agents, show promise in restoring β cell function by ...

Aging‐Driven Immunosuppression: The Role of Tregs in the Ovarian Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
In the aged ovarian TME, cancer cells exhibit increased succinate production. Elevated extracellular succinate activates the SUCNR1 receptor on Tregs, promoting their recruitment and contributing to an immunosuppressive environment. This leads to diminished anti‐tumor T cell responses and reduced survival.

The Multifaceted Role of Keratinocytes in Hidradenitis Suppurativa Pathogenesis

open access: yesExperimental Dermatology, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic autoinflammatory skin disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, with multiple factors contributing to its onset, activity and progression. Alongside a predisposing genetic background, hormonal and microbiome alterations, dysregulation of innate and adaptive immune response, as well as environmental ...

Exosomal Non‐Coding RNAs in Gastrointestinal Cancer Drug Resistance: A Systematic Review of Emerging Mechanisms and Clinical Implications

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal (GI) tumours are one of the most prevalent cancers globally. Even with normal GI function, individuals may develop neoplasms, highlighting the need to better understand the underlying causes of tumorigenesis. The emergence of tumour drug resistance represents the main reason for the failure of drug treatment; thus, it is ...
