Extracellular vesicle microRNA in early versus late pregnancy with birth outcomes in the MADRES study

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2022
Circulating miRNA may contribute to the development of adverse birth outcomes. However, few studies have investigated extracellular vesicle (EV) miRNA, which play important roles in intercellular communication, or compared miRNA at multiple time points ...

Image6_Integrated Analysis of Angiogenesis Related lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA in Patients With Coronary Chronic Total Occlusion Disease.PNG

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) disease is common and its specific characteristic is collateral formation. The Integrated analysis of angiogenesis related lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network remains unclear and might provide target for future ...

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

The ribosomal protein RACK1 is required for microRNA function in both C. elegans and humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Despite the importance of microRNAs (miRNAs) in gene regulation, it is unclear how the miRNA-Argonaute complex-or miRNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC)-can regulate the translation of their targets in such diverse ways.

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Profiling of miRNAs in pediatric asthma: Upregulation of miRNA-221 and miRNA-485-3p

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2012
The aim of this study was to investigate the expression profiles of microRNAs (miRNAs) in pediatric asthma and to determine candidate miRNAs responsible for the pathogenesis of this disease. Microarrays were used to detect the differences in the miRNA expression levels between asthmatic children and controls. Airway

Hierarchically Engineered Multi‐Enzyme Nanoreactors for in vitro Drug Biosynthesis and Pathway Transplantation Into Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...
