The genotypes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) have been found to be related to the risk of transmission and the development of drug resistance of this pathogen. Thus, exploring the molecular characteristics of MTB is helpful for understanding and controlling the spread of strains in areas with a high incidence of tuberculosis. We recruited 512 ...

Quick and cheap MIRU-VNTR typing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis species complex using duplex PCR
Tuberculosis, 2016While minisatellites are usually typed using capillary sequencers or qiaplex systems in developed countries, many low-resource regions cannot afford it. We propose an optimized agarose gel electrophoresis method to genotype Mycobacterium tuberculosis species complex minisatellites in their standardized format (24 MIRU-VNTR).

Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the causative agent of Johne's disease, an economically important disease in ruminants worldwide. It was first isolated in Egypt in 2005. Since then, the pathogen has been detected in different Egyptian provinces.

Genetic diversity based on MIRU-VNTR profile of isolates of Mycobacterium bovis from Mexican cattle
Preventive Veterinary Medicine, 2016Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a disease caused by Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis), which affects cattle, animal species and humans. To determinate the genetic structure of strains of M. bovis in mexican cattle, 467 isolates obtained from 2009 to 2010 from different regions of Mexico with known spoligotype were included in the study.

Genotyping of clinical Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates based on eight loci of MIRU-VNTR.
The international journal of tuberculosis and lung disease : the official journal of the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, 2013Genotyping that differentiates between strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis based on variations in the genome of the organism is a useful tool for molecular epidemiological studies of tuberculosis. In the present study, we identified a combination of five mycobacterial interspersed repetitive unit (MIRU) loci and three variable numbers of tandem ...
