Metamer Mismatching

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2014
A new algorithm for calculating the metamer mismatch volumes that arise in colour vision and colour imaging is introduced. Unlike previous methods, the proposed method places no restrictions on the set of possible object reflectance spectra. As a result of such restrictions, previous methods have only been able to provide approximate solutions to the ...

Quantizer Mismatch

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1975
A simple upper bound is derived to the difference in performance obtained from applying a given quantizer to two different sources. This provides a bound on the performance loss or mismatch resulting when applying a quantizer designed for one source to another.

Mismatch

2018
How inclusive methods can build elegant design solutions that work for all. Sometimes designed objects reject their users: a computer mouse that doesn't work for left-handed people, for example, or a touchscreen payment system that only works for people who read English phrases, have 20/20 vision, and use a credit card.

Qualifications mismatch and skills mismatch

Education + Training, 2012
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to estimate the extent of “over‐qualification” (i.e. holding a qualification which is above that required to gain entry to the job being done) and “skills under‐utilisation” (i.e. being in a job which does not make use of the knowledge and skills possessed) in the United Kingdom and to examine whether these ...

Visual Mismatch Negativity

2003
When a deviant tone is presented within a sequence of repetitive (“standard”) tones, it evokes a specific response in the event-related potential (ERP) called mismatch negativity (MMN). This response lasts from about 100 to 250 milliseconds after stimulus onset, is maximal over frontal/central scalp areas, and is thought to originate from temporal and ...
