The complete mitochondrial genome of the Chilotilapia rhoadesii
In this study, we firstly reported the complete mitochondrial genome of Chilotilapia rhoadesii. The whole mitochondrial genome is 16,580 bp in length, including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and 13 protein-coding genes.

A broad distribution of the alternative oxidase in microsporidian parasites [PDF]
Microsporidia are a group of obligate intracellular parasitic eukaryotes that were considered to be amitochondriate until the recent discovery of highly reduced mitochondrial organelles called mitosomes. Analysis of the complete genome of Encephalitozoon

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

The bipartite mitochondrial genome of Ruizia karukerae (Rhigonematomorpha, Nematoda)
Mitochondrial genes and whole mitochondrial genome sequences are widely used as molecular markers in studying population genetics and resolving both deep and shallow nodes in phylogenetics.

Survival and divergence in a small group: The extraordinary genomic history of the endangered Apennine brown bear stragglers [PDF]
About 100 km east of Rome, in the central Apennine Mountains, a critically endangered population of ∼50 brown bears live in complete isolation. Mating outside this population is prevented by several 100 km of bear-free territories.

Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...
