Permeability Transition Pore Closure Promoted By Quinine.

open access: yes, 2015
The mitochondrial membrane permeability transition induced by Ca2+ is inhibited by quinine in a dose-dependent fashion. Competition experiments strongly suggest that quinine displaces Ca2+ bound to the inner membrane.

A State‐Gated Metallo‐DNAzyme Framework Programs Tumor Stress Vulnerability Through Metabolic Licensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A tumor‐state‐gated metallo‐DNAzyme framework integrates miR‐21/APE1‐responsive GLUT1 silencing with Ca/Cu‐partitioned metal–nucleic acid assembly and cystine loading. The framework first weakens glucose‐dependent metabolic buffering and then amplifies copper‐ and disulfide‐associated stress, converting tumor metabolic adaptation into programmable ...

Mitochondrial non-energetic function and embryonic cardiac development

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
The initial contraction of the heart during the embryonic stage necessitates a substantial energy supply, predominantly derived from mitochondrial function. However, during embryonic heart development, mitochondria influence beyond energy supplementation.

Relating pore fabric geometry to acoustic and permeability anisotropy in Crab Orchard Sandstone: A laboratory study using magnetic ferrofluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Pore fabric anisotropy is a common feature of many sedimentary rocks. In this paper we report results from a comparative study on the anisotropy of a porous sandstone (Crab Orchard) using anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS), acoustic wave ...

AHR‐Responsive Carbon Dots Orchestrate Skin Wound Healing and Colonic Mucosal Repair via Treg‐Mediated Macrophage Efferocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Guided by pharmacophore modeling and molecular docking, aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR)‐responsive carbon dots were synthesized. They bind directly to AHR and expand gut‐resident regulatory T (Treg) cells. Treg‐derived C‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CCL1) enhances macrophage efferocytosis, creating a pro‐regenetative niche that promotes colonic mucosal ...

The Permeability Transition Pore as a Mitochondrial Ca2+ Release Channel; a Critical Appraisal

open access: yes, 1996
Mitochondria from a variety of sources possess an inner membrane channel, the permeability transition pore. The pore is a voltage-dependent channel, activated by matrix Ca2+ and inhibited by matrix H+, which can be blocked by cyclosporin A, presumably ...

DLST Succinylation‐Mediated Mitochondrial Metabolic Remodeling and Cuproptosis Resistance Promote Malignant Progression of Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The DLST K409 succinylation mediated by CPT1A promotes OXPHOS and redox homeostasis through regulating enzyme activity, thereby promoting the malignant progression of LUAD. Notably, the succinylation of DLST can enhance the cuproptosis resistance by inhibiting its lipoylation.

On the Voltage Dependence of the Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore. A Critical Appraisal.

open access: yes, 1997
The mitochondrial permeability transition pore, a cyclosporin A-sensitive channel, can be opened by the addition of protonophoric uncouplers such as carbonyl cyanide p-trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone (FCCP) after energy-dependent accumulation of Ca2+. We
