Anti-tumour efficacy of mitofusin-2 in urinary bladder carcinoma
Medical Oncology, 2010Mitochondrial GTPase mitofusin-2 gene (Mfn2) is a novel gene characterised as a cell proliferation inhibitor. Mfn2 protein over-expression, mediated by an adenovirus, has a significant anti-tumour effect in A548 and HT-29 cells. However, there is no report on the effect of Mfn2 on urinary bladder carcinoma (UBCC).

Mitofusin 2 regulates actin cytoskeleton and cell migration
2022Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is a well-established model to study neutrophil biology. However, a lack of standard tissue-specific knockdown or knockout technique in the zebrafish field has limited the power of this model organism when studying developmental essential genes, such as those related to mitochondrial function.

Overexpression of mitofusin 2 inhibits reactive astrogliosis proliferation in vitro
Neuroscience Letters, 2014Astrocytes become activated in response to central nervous system (CNS) injury, and excessive astrogliosis is considered an impediment to axonal regeneration by forming glial scar. Mitofusin 2 (Mfn2), a key protein in mitochondrial network, has been reported to negatively regulate cell proliferation.

Regulation of mitofusin-2 expression in skeletal muscle.
Applied physiology, nutrition, and metabolism = Physiologie appliquee, nutrition et metabolisme, 2009Fusion and fission of mitochondria regulate their morphology and distribution. Mitofusin-2 (Mfn2) is a mitochondrial protein involved in such fusion. Recent observations indicate that Mfn2 is a multifunctional protein that participates in cell proliferation and metabolism and that it is required for normal endoplasmic reticulum morphology.
