MircroRNA-145 Attenuates Cardiac Fibrosis Via Regulating Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Kinase Kinase 3

Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 2022
This study aimed to explore the effect of microRNA (miR)-145 on cardiac fibrosis in heart failure mice and its target.Experiments were carried out in mice receiving left coronary artery ligation, transverse aortic constriction (TAC), or angiotensin (Ang) II to trigger heart failure, and in cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) with Ang II-induced fibrosis. The miR ...

Phospholipase C-β2 interacts with mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 3

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002
Phospholipase C (PLC)-beta enzymes (isoenzymes beta 1-beta 4) are activated by G protein subunits, leading to the generation of intracellular messengers which mobilize calcium and activate protein kinase C. It has recently been recognized that these enzymes interact with and are regulated by proteins other than G proteins.

Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Stimulates Muscle Differentiation by Activating p38 Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2000
The activation of both phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3-kinase) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) is required for muscle differentiation. However, it is not known whether the signals from these two kinases interact during this process. In this work, we have investigated this using H9c2 cardiac myoblasts.

Mitogen-activated protein kinase 3/mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 activates apoptosis during testicular ischemia–reperfusion injury in a nuclear factor-κB-independent manner

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2009
Nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-kappaB), mitogen-activated protein kinase3/MAPK1 and MAPK8 are involved in testicular ischemia reperfusion injury (testicular-I/R). NF-kappaB knock-out mice (KO) subjected to testicular-I/R have a reduced testicular damage, blunted MAPK8 activation and enhanced MAPK3/MAPK1 activity.

The protein stannin binds 14-3-3ζ and modulates mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling

Molecular Brain Research, 2005
The molecular mechanisms underlying the selective toxicity of trimethyltin (TMT) remain unclear. Stannin (Snn), a protein preferentially expressed in TMT-sensitive cells, provides a direct link to the molecular basis for TMT toxicity. Recent evidence demonstrated that Snn peptides bind and de-alkylate TMT to dimethyltin (DMT); Snn may mediate both TMT ...

Catalytic Activation of the Phosphatase MKP-3 by ERK2 Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase

Science, 1998
MAP kinase phosphatase–3 (MKP-3) dephosphorylates phosphotyrosine and phosphothreonine and inactivates selectively ERK family mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinases. MKP-3 was activated by direct binding to purified ERK2. Activation was independent of protein kinase activity and required binding of ERK2 to the noncatalytic amino-terminus of MKP-3 ...
