A phase II study of capecitabine and oxalplatin combination chemotherapy in patients with inoperable adenocarcinoma of the gall bladder or biliary tract [PDF]
Background: Advanced biliary tract carcinomas are associated with a poor prognosis, and palliative chemotherapy has only modest benefit. This multi-centre phase II study was conducted to determine the efficacy of capecitabine in combination with ...

Can Epirubicin Be Used in Laryngology Practice Like Mitomycin? An Experimental and Pioneering Study [PDF]
Introduction: Epirubicin and mitomycin-C share similar mechanisms of action, with both exhibiting antiproliferative effects by inhibiting DNA and protein synthesis.

Simple one-pot fabrication of ultra-stable core-shell superparamagnetic nanoparticles for potential application in drug delivery [PDF]
Ultrastable superparamagnetic core-shell nanoparticles of average diameter 80 nm have been fabricated via a simple one-pot method involving superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) core ([similar]50 nm in diameter) and lipid bilayer shell by ...

Schematic illustration showing that FAP‐α promoted angiogenesis, cytokine release and ECM degradation in the CEP degeneration of the intervertebral disc through upregulating the PI3K/Akt/HIF‐1α/VEGFA pathway. ABSTRACT Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a primary cause of low back pain, with the development of new blood vessels being a key ...

Detection Of DNA Damage By Use Of Escherichia Coli Carrying recA\u27::lux, uvrA\u27::lux, And alkA\u27::lux Reporter Plasmids [PDF]
Plasmids were constructed in which DNA damage-inducible promoters recA, uvrA, and alkA from Escherichia coli were fused to the Vibrio fischeri luxCDABE operon. Introduction of these plasmids into E. coli allowed the detection of a dose-dependent response

Surgical excision of melanomas in the anal region and reconstruction of the anus in 11 horses
Summary This case report describes the surgical excision of large perianal and perineal melanomas, and reconstruction of the anus in 11 grey horses. Four horses had a history of painful defaecation or urination due to extensive tumours. Seven horses had no clinical signs at the time of admission but had rapidly growing nodules around the anus with ...

Limited roles of the miR‐17‐92 cluster in the regulation of T‐cell apoptosis
The pro‐apoptotic protein BIM shapes T‐cell survival and function, but how it is regulated remains unclear. In a mouse model lacking direct miR‐17‐92:Bim interactions, we observed a moderate reduction in Th17 CD4+ T cells. BIM levels were modestly increased in double‐positive thymocytes and naive CD8+ T cells, but this did not affect overall T‐cell ...

GCN2 in proteostasis: structural logic, signalling networks and disease
Threats to protein synthesis activate the kinase GCN2, initiating the integrated stress response (ISR). GCN2 is triggered by stalled ribosomes and uncharged tRNAs, which accumulate when amino acids are scarce. The ISR adjusts cellular physiology by promoting redox balance, protein quality control, and mitochondrial optimisation.
