Implementing Mixed-criticality Systems Upon a Preemptive Varying-speed Processor [PDF]
A mixed criticality (MC) workload consists of components of varying degrees of importance (or "criticalities"); the more critical components typically need to have their correctness validated to greater levels of assurance than the less critical ones ...

A Specification Framework for Mixed-Criticality Scheduling Protocols
This article presents a general formal framework for describing the relationship between a criticality-aware scheduler, a set of application jobs that are assigned different criticality levels, and an environment that generates both work and faults that the run-time system must control.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Optimisation of production machine scheduling using a two level mixed optimisation method [PDF]
This paper presents an application of a two level mixed optimization method on a machine scheduling problem of a government owned machine shop. Where evolutionary algorithm methods are suitable for solving complex, discrete space, and non-linear,

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
